new on here from the uk so figured i would throw up a bike check
couldn't find a dedicated thread for them (whats up with that ?) and saw a few posted in here so figured this was the best place

nice bike. I've always wondered if stock bikes in Europe come with left handed rear brakes... then it becomes the standard practice over there or if it's personal preference.

Here its opposite, where as the rear brake comes on the right side.

Nice bike. Damn that is a short chainstay length....! You know what the measurement is center of bb to center of axle ?

Rear brakes on the left--the explanation I heard is all bikes are set up that way from department stores on up, for the old reason of doing hand signals with the arm that is in the center of the road.... In the UK & Ireland (and India, Australia, New Zealand, S. Africa??) they drive on the left side of the road.

The rest of Europe drives on the right side, so bikes have the brakes set up like ours.

The other reason you see people with rear brake on the left is because they also ride motorcycles. Front hand brake is on the right on a motorcycle.

chainstay length: 14.5″
brake on the left keeps it out out of the way on turndowns aswell (Y)
