Yeah....his other pedals are $500 NJS platforms. This bike is over a year old and is pristine. He owns some apartment complexes around here and supposedly only rides around the complexes.

For $15k I would think that it would be lighter. I have a friend who has a Scott Addict at 12lbs and he didn't spend close to that much

Agreed, I think there is a bit of name buying going on with that bike, we have built up a couple 14 pounders for less than 15K. Couple Orbeas, couple Biani's. But most were Idependant Fab frames, no big name fancy smancy wheels, usually mavic open pro's. no need to get the most expensive parts to get a light bike, Unless you like having bragging rights to I have this part and I have this part with these names ETC!!!

Thats what I thought. We have a few customers that are all about the biggest "I have's" They have already preordered the new Electronic DA systems just so they can be the first to have them.

I like that, its clean, and it sits low on the bike. One thing I do know for sure, is the DA system is going to be rapid rise style, where the spring will pull to the granny gear. Not sure how they will run it on the lever, but the derailer itself will be the low normal<I think thats how you say that>

It will be interesting to see how that pans out, I wonder what their riders think? I've heard, all second hand, that rapid rise shifts better than standard der. I've always ran the standard type ders.

Rapid rise doesnt really shift any better, but if you are shifting alot, you will notice less hand fatigue. It is easier to Pull your derailer down to the smallest cog with the cable, than vice versa. Part of the reason they are using a Low normal derailer setup. with the electronic shifts, should be zero hand fatigue from shifting.

Maybe they're thinking it will improve battery life because the motor won't have to work as hard?

I think it's time for hydraulic derailleurs.:thumb:
I saw an article about a guy who made his own hydraulic shifting system, I think the article was on weight weenies......interesting idea. I have a set of airlines from Shimano, and I have to say it shifts faster and more crisp than most

Air shifts were pretty cool, I never spent any time on them, I liked the idea, I just saw too many problems to get overly excited about them

S.A.F.E., Scott Allen Fife Enterprises made that hydro shifter. It was an old article right? The guy had the system set up on a Crosstrac Sonoma. Man, I'm old.

Airlines! I had a set, but couldn't get them set up properly. I totally want another to make a rad townie...

The airlines were great for DH becuase you never had a problem with ghost shifts, but recharging the tank can get irritating. I actually used three smaller tanks and it allowed for easier mounting and they had more air volume, it was a pretty trick setup
