No way. They are stronger than ever. They are really trying to get into the freeride market. They have a very healthy grassroots sponsorship program for '05.

Yes, they're better than Grimeca. It's a 4-piston open hydro system with a floating caliper (if you don't know what that is, google it, they use 'em on some cars). They're stupid-powerful.

I had some and they leaked a lot, but that was a few years ago.

NOOOO, Maguras fall apart, unless they rebuilt their system from the ground up. i had a set for like 2months before i just threw them out.
then i did actually go to Grimecas, no i'm at Hope and no problems...
why Cannondale....they were doing so well

Does the Gustav have 4 pistons then? Because I was looking at a photo of some and I couldn’t make my mind up if it was 4 pistons or just 2 pistons on one side and a solid pad on the other as it has got a floating calliper.

i remember having to throw out a set of Magura Lousie brakes at my shop. Some dude gave up on them. I said noo there good, and put them on. They sucked, so i threw out the brakes and kept the rotars, they are good rotars.

I think magura got kind of a bad rep for their discs back in the day when they first came out and sucked a big one(back when hayes were brown). I worked at a shop and we had to deal with alot of them, they sucked. However, they have improved alot since then, and Ive ridden several sets that worked simply awesome. That includes the most powerful set of brakes ive ever felt on JJ gregrovich's(SP?) trials bike. They were louises, and I believe had some modification to the slave/master cyclinder sizes.

"Floating caliper" disc brakes, the most common variety, allow the caliper to move from side to side slightly when the brakes are applied. This is because only one pad moves (in relation to the caliper). Some calipers contain two or four seperate pistons. These calipers are fixed in place; i.e., there is no lateral movement like the floating caliper, the pistons take up the slack on each side of the rotor. These are called "dual cylinder" or "dual piston" calipers, and are standard equipment on many performance cars.

Ok, how does that make the break any better? got that from some sight off line.

oh yeah, duh. You're right, it's 2 pistons.

As compared to formula, hayes, avid, hell... even friggun tektro is better than magura. The brakes I had were a pain in the rump to bleed, the pistons wouldn't retract right, they even leaked!

I believe they are 2 piston brake but are one sided, appears to be 4 piston. They work pretty well, except my front one did kinda fall apart after bleeding it. No problems with the rear though. All in All good brake, good stopping power.

I have a set of the Gustav M's and i just had a shop bleed my rear brake. the problem is when i pull the lever it has a lot more pull than it used to. (where i have to move my other fingers off the grip so that i can pull the lever all the way. Is there a way i can adjust the amount of pull on the lever?
