So a banshee scream is on the way in the mail, and I have some relatively good components( hayes hydraulics, holzefellers, evil chainguide, mag 30's). The only problem is that I have a 2004 junior t and I don't know how it is going to work on the scream. Should I save my money and get a better fork or leave it as is?

Ride it as it is, THEN decide. Juniors are a bit primitive and not very good for DH race stuff, but by the sounds of it you're going for a more FR-oriented bike, so it should be fine IMO.
if the Jr-t feels no good on the bike take a look at the new manitue stance kingpin. this fork feels great has the right stuff to be strong and will not break the bank at $500 retail!
btw I'm not a fan of the jr-t's internals or externals. the internals because of the lack of any real dampaning and the exteranls because i have seen a couple of the lowers broke where the QR20 second flap meets the lower(it that make since)

screams are meant to have monsters and shivers. imo 
i rode a scream w/ a jr.t for a couple of weaks and it sucked. i have rode screams w/ shiver,03 monster t, 02 monster t, 03 t2, and 888r. the shiver feels the best to me. but i just like to go huge. not much of a racer.

I agree that Marz QR20 is a weak design, seen lots fail. If you are gonna get a marz get a fork with dedicated true 20mm through axel, like 888 or shiver for your scream.
You will find that with the uber beef in the front end of the scream. the manitou forks will have a reduced turning radius. Get a Durado, it is a great fork. The Shiver is what I run on my Scream and it seems to be very ballanced compared to some of teh other screams I have been on.
If I was you I would ride the life out of the jrt, then expect to upgrade to a higher end fork like a Durado or a shiver.
