So what is a trials bike? Whenever I see the name I just think someone mispells trails. What is it?

trials is a very technical type of riding that involves hopping and navigating over assorted man made and natural obsticals
this is a mod trials bike

and this is a normal trials bike

anybody heard of the trials riders from wisconsin or minnesota or some where around the mid west that's really good? i got a tip he's moving out here by the end of the year.
