Trails is vandals systematically dismantling an entire line on a Sunday night at your local, legal trails.

There will be trail work from 1pm until dark Thursday 12/2 and Saturday 12/4 to repair the damage. Come through if you can.

Wow - sorry to hear about Cunningham. I know you guys have done a lot of work up there and the fact that it is a legal zone is even better. Really would like to know who fvcked up your work. Seems that they went thru a lot of trouble and it was calculated and not just some kids walking thru and looking to be punks.

we're going to have to use a come-a-long thing.. the berm that leads into it is HUGE. full on ripper so we want the next lip to be back a bit so you can relax just a tad before you blast into orbit.

That rock looks like it could be moved using a little mechanical advantage. I once ran into a rock once that was too big even for that, and the only thing we could do was dig a giant hole right to the side of it, then slowly start undercutting the dirt beneath the rock. During the final stages of this we had to brace the rock up with some wood so the guy digging wouldn't get crushed. Finally, we smashed the supports and the rock rolled into the hole, out of the way, and we buried it. This took forever, so I would first try and exhaust all other options (and friends you can con into helping) first.

If you still can't move it, build a fire. Dig out all the way around it, and literally build a fire around the rock. Get it super hot, then pour cold water all over it. It will fracture. Get a sledge hammer and whack the living sh!t out of it at the fracture so it breaks, or use a wedge to jam into it. If that doesn't work, build another fire and try again.

Just sack up with 4 guys and a few rock bars. I've moved few rocks that big. It sucks ass and guaranteed something funny will happen but you can get it done. Sit on your ass and use your legs (like all of you do this at the same time).

There's also a substance called betonomite. Expanding polymer that you can drop into rock drilled holes. I've used it and it works.

I didn't know they were that close.

I'm callin it. East coast trip this summer. I gotta see this **** before I get too fragile.
If your serious you can crash here a couple days and do a trail tour, you could also hit up Highland. Its a bit of a drive but maybe worth it ,I don't know though, once you go to some of the local spots. . .

Yeah, like Tortuga said. I've got a crashing spot in the PA area which I could probably extend your way too if I was there.

And if your heading to eastern PA, rather than Highland, consider taking the time to also go the extra mile(s) to Long Island. I have yet to see anyone ride our trails on an mtb, but i'm sure giving it a go would be fun (and several of us have/do ride mtb on the side).
