I have an old Funn saddle that I ran for 10+ years, but I think it's seen its day. For a Thomson seatpost, what saddles do you run for DH specifically? The Funn was 270x128mm. I like that it was narrow. I'm looking for something that's not expensive and has to be durable. Don't care about the weight.

saddles are one of those things that's really driven by anatomical fit, especially if you plan on sitting and pedalling a lot.

i've got a WTB, a couple selle italia, and earlier this year got a shimano pro saddle for the trainer bike. liked it enough i got a second for the cross/road bike.

The Diety sidetrack looks nice, but it's I-beam only and expensive.

Ti rails ain't durable enough for a DH saddle. Not for me anyway.
Snapped every Ibeam I've ever tried too.

I have the Chromag Lynx DT.

I use it on my trail bike, but it works well for DH too. it's not too wide, long, and the nose won't try and pierce your manhood. (that nose makes it nice for technical climbs too).

If you are looking for a readily available narrow saddle that can be found cheap (or new take offs or light use all over ebay) that hold up well, look for the WTB Silverado.

WTB Silverado because it fits the bill and can be had for cheap. I have a steel one and a ti one lying around because they both creak and I hate them.

Fizik on the trail bike, only because that's what fits. My preference for saddle time is Selle italia.

on my downhill bike currently resides an SDG Circuit ... I think I've had it for 3 or 4 seasons now, holding up fine, comfy enough to sit and pedal for a bit if needed.

If you want cheap, durable and not too heavy, the Selle Italia X1 ticks all the boxes. Also it isn't too wide (135x280).

I've been digging the Fabric Scoop for a while. 3 different side profiles from flat to pretty curvy and they're all pretty good, though the medium (shallow) is my favorite. Rounded edges all around and lots of different builds so there's probably one to fit your budget.

Fabric Scoop and I did not get along - doesn't have much of a middle channel. I'm a big fan of Ergon's SMA3 (or whichever one is the "trail bike" version) - medium width is right for my bones, and they bed in super nicely after just a few rides.

I'm all about Selle Italia SLRs. You can get 'em cheap on eBay after roadies scuff the cover up and deem them unrideable. I have a bunch that all look like shit, but work just fine. Super comfy and light.

Best saddle is the one you never think about on a ride. For me, this has usually been selle italia, and definitely not fizik or wtb.

My favorite saddle is currently the sdg fly mtn, runner up is the wtb volt. The sdg offers a little more comfort due to the wider nose

I've been running the Chromag Mood. It used to be called the moon, dunno why they changed the name. It's firm and supportive. The nose doesnt stab me either. I like it the most of the Chromag lineup.

sdg bel air of some sort here...no complaints over 4-5 years of abuse. old wtb devo was also good but they no longer make it and it did creak some...bunch of friends ride ether silverados or volts and are happy...

I was running an SDG Bell Air until the rails bent (no crashes). Replaced it with a Chromag Lynx DT while the SDG went back for warranty. The Chromag is comfy and seriously grippy which is handy if you suffer from sweaty ass or ride in 90% humidity. SDG sent me a new saddle free of charge but I think they called me a fat ass since "it appears there was a hard impact".

A DH saddle really isn't as personal to me since we rarely sit. I have a perfect idea for a DH saddle. Too bad none of these companies would be willing to take advice or build one off of recommendations.

Ps. I'd really like to see the underside of these too, but nobody shows that in pics.

Pss. Why don't all DH bikes get tested to see if the tire hits the saddle before they're sold. Can't they adjust the STA? That really shouldn't effect too much.

SDG "I Fly" I-Beam saddle here. Not the comfiest one, but it is light and it's been problem free for many seasons (maybe except torn up "leather" at the nose, from hanging the bike on the lift). It is narrow, so when you have to get back and low, it doesnt rub on your thighs.

For a pure DH bike, I run the SDG "I-Fly" I-beam as well, for the reasons mentioned by @troy above. For trail/enduro/whatever, I'm currently running the Joystick Builder saddles. Flat profile for sliding back and forward, enough padding to stop butt soreness and padded sides for leaning the bike over when stuff gets rowdy. I've also had good luck with the Chromag Trailmaster saddles and even their Lynx DT.

If you ride in muddy conditions, check out the Fabric saddles. They're vacuum formed or something, so the underside is completely smooth and easy to keep clean. They've got different shapes and depths as well.

I've heard great things about the SQ Lab saddles but they're bloody expensive so I haven't tried one.

I have a Fizik Gobi XM on the DH rig - inexpensive, pretty much indestructible, never in the way of body English. On trail bikes, I like Prologo saddles with the love channel. I have three of them - two black and one white, and I like the white one better for some reason, it is moar comfortable.

I want to crush rocks with my butt so I'm using the hardest version of the tioga spyder. On the bright side it's light, cheap and it's not a pizza slice so it won't cut my thighs when I crush (vertical edges on the seat are important). The seat itself is both durable and not. As in there is one part of the "web" that will crack (mine did after 2 weeks) but nothing will happen later. I have mine since 2011 and it's still runing strong.

Also there are non idiotic colors.

A rear part near the middle. Not after sitting. I crash often and like an idiot so maybe it's more durable than I assumed and I simply crashed in my own special way.
