I'm not debating his point (although I think this is about the region as a whole not just Pakistan) but where the hell did he get that number.

Seriously?

That is the number I have heard being thrown around. The majority of the fighting in the 'Stan is with the taliban or local tribes. Seems that the terrorist activity that we are fighting isn't against a global network of extremists but local fighters who are fighting against our military occupation. Tail wagging the dog, mexican standoff, self-fulfilling prophesy? Take your pick.
