I am going to be using a 11-32 cassette, and a shimano 105 short rear derail. I was thinking of using a 36t up front but that's what I run on my DH bike. I just want to be able to ride around town and stuff or the BMX track without feeling like I've ran out of gear. If I go between a 32-36t I can get the E.13 STS, but if I want bigger I have to go the SRS. I haven't gotten one yet but was just curious what you guys that ride 4x/BMX/Urban on a MTB use for gearing.

I run a 38 on my hardtail with a 12-27 roadie cassette and a 38 on my DHR with a 11-34. IMO, it's a good setup. A 38 gets you going as fast as you'd ever want to go, and I've never really had problems on the hills.

I use a Gamut chainguide though. I'm not sure what the difference between a STS and SRS is, but I liked my SRS when I had it.

I'll run a 40t max bashguard and a 36t ring. Should work out fine with a 11-32 cassette. E.13 doesn't make anything smaller for a 4-bolt chain ring.

SRS I guess are for 36t and smaller chain rings, SRS will do pretty much any range give then bashguard size. I managed to pick up a SRS pretty cheap so I'll use that. :)
