I finally get a whole weekend free to temporarily drop out of my responsible lifestyle and the VA Forum is effin' closed.

I don't know where the DC/MD/VA crowd posts now during these dark days of prohibition but if anyone has a clue, please tell me. Not that listserv, either, as it is now plagued by pornspammers. I am trying to figure out what kind of mischief I can get into next weekend(May 19/20) and want to consider all the options. I had planned on packing up the vehicle with a bike, tent, fishing rods and cooler full o' suds for a w/e of sinful anarchy but both of my regular riding buds have non-negotiable committments to attend to, i.e. a wedding and work.

Is anyone aware of any cool outdoorsy happenings within maybe 4-5 hours of Fredneck, MD next weekend? I'd rather not have to settle for local canned events like the DC 101 Chili Cookoff(which a number of my non-riding friends will be attending). Diablo would have been cool but I don't really want to race. Blacksburg/Brush Mt. would be cool but I'm not aware of anything going on...and I think school's out now. Any suggestions from what remains of the peanut gallery? :help:

Hello again, fellas. Thank God some old timers are still around!

That looks cool, Corey, but I plan on being somewhere OTHER than Fredneck next weekend. Thanks for the suggestion just the same as I wasn't even aware of that event. Were I to remain in town, it would sure beat hanging out all day at the Chili Cookoff(with my friends who don't seem to mind paying $8 for a plastic juice cup's worth of pisswater swill)...except for the boobie-flashing part, of course.

Burly, you could appreciate this- I just picked up a new 30-06...black synthetic/stainless KM77 Mark II with a Nikon 3-9X40 topping it off. One of the reasons I'm toying with the idea of driving down to my old stomping grounds in Blacksburg is that there is a free Army Corps of Engineers outdoor firing range there near Pandapas Pond. I haven't even dialed in the scope yet(just boresighted) and I'd like to be close to MOA with both 165gr and 180gr loads. The fishing, camping, golfing, biking, etc. would all just be a cake-assed bonus.
