I'm trying to figure out where to lump them in the international relations scheme of thing...they have realist rhetoric, but they act completely differently (and the repubs don't seem to mind)??? What is a name for this new, reckless, "we-don't-care-about-the-consequences" political school of thought?

Well, They're highly nationalist with a strong racist undercurrent. They have also expanded government spending and oversight of the populus by a huge amount, similar policies to what Hitler was doing under what he called socialism. I'm talking in the international realm...Most people currently involved in IR really have no idea what the hell the Bush administration is doing since it's so ****ed up, and the closest thing you can draw an international comparison to is Nazi Germany.

What I hear it called most is just straight up imperialism. We conquer, subdue the 'barbarian people', set up a fake government, and administer some good old fashioned indirect control. It's a long standing Western tradition, W is just keeping the American end up. I wouldn't go as far as calling it Nazi, as the British and French did the same thing less than 100 years ago (early Iraq and Transjordan).
