It is more important than keeping students in the classroom if said students are distracting the rest of their classmates from learning. The number one priority of school admin is to keep the school safe for everyone in order to promote an environment focussed on learning. If that means removing some kids who think that school should be an outlet for their personal protest then so be it. But I am not talking about school admin. I am talking about you/me/the media paying attention to stupid ass **** that goes on in school instead of calling schools out about the issues that are really important.
And the crack about spelling errors? Amateur.

My sister and her partner both work for the SF School District, and one of them is likely to lose their job this summer due to budget cuts.
There are a lot of "stupid" issues involving Bay Area schools. There is a hunger strike at UC Berkeley over cuts to the janitorial staff and Arizona immigration policy, Oakland teachers walked out over their budget cuts, a major highway was shutdown by Berkeley protesters, a near riot over 4-20 at UC Santa Cruz,...
This is all in the last 30 days.
Frankly, thinking about budget cuts is very depressing because I feel that there are no magic solutions: we need to cut budget which ultimately means few teachers and worse public schools.
I love to hear another real-world solution that I can support.
So in the ranking of Bay Area school issues, this one is rather relevant to me. There is a large Mexican population in my neighborhood, as well as plenty of whites. I also have several friends in Morgan Hill, which I was just there.
No, the American flag t-shirt is not my number 1 priority. I rate just below the hunger strike and way above the 4-20 riot, and all of these issues are nowhere as important as my relatives losing their jobs.
In other words, I like to hear what you and Manimal have to say on Ridemonkey, but I haven't made my protest sign just yet.
Actually, whoever wins this debate will determine which side I root for, Amerika or the Illegals.

I'd concur, except that something like 80-90% of mexicans are mestizo or indigenous (cue manimal claiming he's 1/87th native american).

This would have been a nothing incident if the principal let the kids be. And if someone had a problem with the t-shirts, then it is THEIR PROBLEM.
