Damn, that's unlucky. It used to be that if you stole a loaf of bread here you'd get free passage out to Oz. Now you just get sent on adventure weekends.BurlySurly said:It got erased when I turned 18. Any other stuff is from military police, so it wont transfer over to where Im at now
bmxr said:That's not what I said genius, I merely posed the hypothetical "fixed income" based on what Alexis was saying. If you can get a good enough job (that pays in US dollars, IMO), then you can live nicely anywhere.
My point is that you could make a decent living as a mechanic (or even a miner ) in the US, but I bet your quality of life would be different if you were living on the wages of a Peruvian miner. That's all. Hell, you never know; I might even have actual first-hand experience to base my opinion on
All things considered, my opinion is that the best place to live is the US.

The movie is called "In like Flint" dude.ohio said:In like Flynn...
Old movie reference.
I too am a fan of Australia. Never been there, but my office does exchanges and ambassadorships to Sydney, so it's a possibility. I feel kinship with any nation that wholeheartedly approves of it's national women's soccer team putting out a topless calendar as a fundraiser. And they're always talking about "the Bush." Sweet.
Shirley mate.....it is "In Like Flynn" comes from the Tasmanian Nazi Errol Flynn, notorious womanizer and all-round cad.BurlySurly said:The movie is called "In like Flint" dude.

Do you think the movie might perhaps have been a play on words of the original saying? Google it yaself mate.BurlySurly said:WTF? Ive only ever heard "In like Flynt" and I just posted the dam link to the movie. What more do you want from me?
I guess it could've been, but I dont care. I just wont use the saying anymore if it makes us all feel better.valve bouncer said:Do you think the movie might perhaps have been a play on words of the original saying? Google it yaself mate.
Well if it makes YOU feel better I used to say "In Like Flint"----until I was about 12.BurlySurly said:I guess it could've been, but I dont care. I just wont use the saying anymore if it makes us all feel better.

The phrase dates back to 1945. Your movie is from 1967.
I win.

I have always said "in like flint" as well.
Dude, you live in Rochester, and grew up in New Jersey...jesus, Id hate it too if i were you. But really, there are some places in the US that are not a **** hole. TN for example is a great place.jdcamb said:A job, a place to live, and some decent riding. I f'n hate this ****hole.....
Werd. Most of the jobs I can get are in Nashville too. They just don't pay well. By the way I grew up in Buffalo. Probably the one place even more ****ty then New Jersey. Quite possibly the ****tiest place in the US.....jdcambBurlySurly said:Dude, you live in Rochester, and grew up in New Jersey...jesus, Id hate it too if i were you. Tell me more about the girls. I got one here I would seriously consider leaving behind  I like 'em real slutty too. I know Nashville well enough. Got friends there to. Just a matter of getting of the pot and doing something about it. I got balls as big as my head for most stuff. Just moving is kind of a scary proposition at this point in my life. Would you promise to ride with me once a week? j/k ....jdcambBurlySurly said:Dude, the thing about Nashville is that you dont need much money to live VERY comfortably. You can buy a tits house for $150,000 that would destroy anything in NY of similar price. Nice girls (if you're into that kind of thing) bad music, decent riding (year round) and best of all...well...i dont know of anything really good, but its cool. Thats where I grew up mostly.
Well, I cant guarantee you tail, but picture this. EVERY waitress downtown at every one of 100 live music bars is herself trying to be a big country music star. There are seriously hundreds of them from all over the country just looking to be noticed. Not all of them will freely admit it, but its the truth. These girls are lonely and hot.jdcamb said:Tell me more about the girls. I got one here I would seriously consider leaving behind  I like 'em real slutty too. I know Nashville well enough. hmm. what about canada? it offers most of the american lifestyle...narlus said:hey toshi, i was actually looking forward to moving back to the US. there is certainly something to said for the great conveniences of US living, and the fact that stuff costs a ton less than in most of the western european countries. and the weather's generally better. that said, the myopia of the average US citizen is a tad disconcerting, as is the fundamentalist movement.
Sorry Burly, In NZ you're not worth too much, although with a Journo qualification, you would definatly be able to get a job. Of course the nice thing over here is the gap between rich and poor is much smaller.BurlySurly said:Profession: College Student
However, I have graduated from a journalism school already and have essentially an associate's in journalism. For whatever that's worth.
Once you become a Doc you can get a job anywhere in the world, but in NZ you would be looking at probably NZ$70-100K for a GP role. I don't know how much specialists earn.Toshi said:profession: med student. with a degree in cs. funny how that works out
