Does anyone know for sure what year that Mavic introduced the 4 pawl system to the DeeMax range?
I believe that the previous design had a 2 pawl set up, Yes? FTS-L if I am correct.

Oh yeah - 150mm hub.

Yes, but I have a wheel set I bought last year ( yellow rims / hubs ) and it is 4 pawl. From what I can measure they are 15* engage ( not 7* like the '09's ).

So, am curious as to the actual year they went 4 pawl.

Well after two days digging on the net I have my answer. It took a lot of reading but here goes:

135mm rear wheels are FTS-L 2 pawl set ups.

Pre '09 12 x 150mm are 4 pawl with single spring set up ( these are the Yellow sets ), engagement angle is 15*.

'09 12 x 150mm are also 4 pawl BUT use a set up like the FTS-L with springs under each pawl. The engagement surfaces are smaller than the earlier 12x150 models and the hub has closer spaced ratchet ramps for the pawls to lock into ( the reason for the 7* engagement angle ).

Whew, hope that makes sense to anyone interested.
