what's a good tyre for ss

hey i am new to ss and have not ridden a hard tail in years - i need a cushy tyre and was lookin at mutanoraptor 2.4 , i like big tyres , i am not wantin to race or anything , i just trailride and need some info - anybody?

the Mutanoraptor 2.4's are excellent i rode them last year in roots, rocks etc what you describe...this year i am riding a wierwolf 2.5 front, 2.3 rear.

I use a 2.1" Michelin Hot-S..& Tioga 2.3" DH up front..
seems to work ok..
I think Sticky rubber is the key !
My new Trek SS should be built up soon..
We gotta hit Panther creek 4 sure..

yeah i am running motoraptors now (2.4 ) on my fs bike , been wantin to try the mutanos 2.4 for a while now.

As long as you're not running rigid, the same tires that will work on a gearie will work on an SS. If you've already got some favorite tires, then start with them.

thanx for the input guys , i figured i would need a little squish on the ss hardtail since i am used to a fully - i'm gonna run 2.4 tyres.

got the mutanoraptors 2.4 and they roll really good , seem to hook up pretty well also - have yet to get em muddy.
