Ok, im from the small UK and well, this idea of upgrade to air assist obviously hasnt struke in yet as i havnt seen any about, or see the point?

I know the new boxxer is coming out with an air assist, so is this upgrade just something along those lines a copy of that?

I have already done a search before someone says this has been covered must be bad wording but the most relavant comment i can find is this: "You will destroy the seals. Not worth it. Do a search and you will find about 10000000000000 threads on it."

So what is this air assist, and iv seen it for the boxxer and zocchi super T pro as well? Are we talking just puting air assist like the ssvf on dirt jumpers onto other forks? or the air valve in the pike? onto bigger brother forks like the super T or the boxxer? if so whats the point?

Any help would be greatful just somthing iv been taken by to find out lol?

I had one version of the air assist done on my Super T. What they did with mine was to take a spring out of one of the legs and put in a the air system. The point was that sometimes with really small riders, having a spring in each leg is just too stiff and you can't adjust it soft enough for a lighter weight rider.

I've also heard people that add the air assist and keep both springs. I'm not sure why this is done. If you don't want the air assist, it's easy to remove. It just screws into the top if the fork leg. Pop the original spring back in and it's stock.

I'm guessing more adjustability? I kinda liked being able to fine tune the stiffness on my DJ before I got rid of it for a Super T.

the air top cap for a lot of Marzocchi forks. on their coil forks, is like a pre-load/compression feels really good i think. only need like 40psi to completely lock out fork, so i run like 8-15psi

Air assist basically allows you to increase the preload (and spring rate, I believe...with air, they increase simultaneously) over what the coil spring gives you. Good for fine-tuning things.

You can also completely replace one (or both, I suppose) of your springs with air and run the entire leg as air-spring only. Saves weight, allows lots of adjustability, and lets lighter people get the proper spring rate.

if ur a heavier rider(like me) then it comees in handy, i have the dj3's on my sasquatch, and i run them about 12 psi or so, and they seem to be doing great for my weight, only really hard hits bottom them out. I wish my 888s had that, they bottom out like nothing.

Have you adjusted your oil height and weight? Preload shouldn't be the thing that prevents your fork from bottoming, although the air changes the spring rate, too, so that's part of getting the proper balance.
