Whats the deal with the Bush support banner?

Anyone else notice this load of crap. Yeah I guess it gave ride monkey a bike load of $$$ but I thought theyd have respect enough not to put a complete moron advertisement on their lounge page. At least save that for the Texas forum or something. If it all possible can we please take that off the board. I need not go into the issues and details of Bush's foreign policy because I hope all of you have made your own decision on it. Anyway go Kerry and Clark all the way.

BTW just tonight my town of fayetteville, AR just passed a smoke-free ban, banning smoking in all resturaunts and bowling alleys. Pretty much all public places except for bars I believe. The margin was 52% to 48%. Anyone else had bans like this where they live?

I don't see what the problem is. Are people afraid the banner ad is going to change the way they think. The way I look at it is the Republican party is paying for our online hijinks. I am thinking about trying to get them as a sponsor, I would ride around in red white and blue spandex with a rubber Bush Jr mask if they bought me a brand new Blur and a VP free.

I forgot to comment on how stupid it is to generalize about Texas with your comments. I hated Clinton, while I do not hate all dems, but I wouldn't have called you a jackass because you are from Arkansas. Now maybe I will.

Yes we have some places that ban smoking all together and some during certain hours. It offends me to breathe the crap at a stop light with the window down or at the start line at an XC race. They should develop cigarettes to be shoved up peoples asses for the affect.

Yeah GWB contacted me personally about the ad. Nicer guy on the phone that one would think........

Alright one more time. We run ad networks. They rotate ads through the spots randomly. We don't pick them. It's true that I can request that certain ads be blocked - but what would be the point? I don't like Bush but I certainly don't see anything offensive about that ad. I'm hoping that as the election nears - both candidates will be running a bunch of political ads and maybe the network payouts will increase a bit.

And in case anyone has forgotten - the ads on this site do not reflect the opinions or policy of the site management.

Somebody's got to pay the bills at RM. If the George the Lesser wants the ad space let him have it.

What do think this place is CBS ? (PETA and Move On reference for those not in the know).

Easy there tiger.....these comments belong in the Polictical Debate forum, as Shifty S pointed out. You mention RM having repsect about the ads.....how about some respect for the monkeys on the board who might not share your same opinion of Bush????

Yeah, I think it's a phucking joke too, but it won't change the way I vote in November

And there's another thread about this too, "The dumbest ad on RM" or something to that effect

Good lord  look buddy, before you go spouting crap out of your mouth, ask a few questions. I'm pretty sure that RM.com subscribes to an advertising subscription service. They have almost no control over what gets advertised... that's up to the service.

Perhaps you'd like to take the opportunity to apologize to the RM admins?

Besides, this ain't CBS :D

If you're watching a TV show and they run a Bush campaign ad, are you going to call the TV Network and ask them to remove it?

it would be like if we asked RM to take you off the board because you talk outta your a$$ too much....

it's those ads that pay the bills and gives us the opportunity to hang here.

First off. For the attackers.. :D Easy there. He didn't put it very PC but it sounds like he didn't understand the web ad subscription set up (heckIdon't most of the time ;) )

I guess he is Pro Kerry and Clark (who is dropping today offically correct?)

As fas as the smoking ban.....

Western Washington had a county ban it everywhere public (even bars, casinos, and such) Local business owners took it upon themselves to fight it.... Last I heard it was being reviewed. Honestly, after it fell from TV news' grace I didn't follow it. Local bar owners were allowing people to smokein their establishments when it was/is illegal, risking fines.

Doesn't New York city have some strict rules on smoking? I can't remember.

I don't smoke but my parents and brother do. Although I am for banning it in movie theaters, stores, and restaurants.....a bar? No. I know it is a intregal part of many bars business. I suffer if I go for a few hours. If someone thought there was a market for it they would advertise their bar smoke free...I am sure some places have. But to me you are cutting your customer base sharply...and I don't think there is enough demand to have many smoke free bars supported. This W Washington law said you couldn't do it outside either(or within a big distance from the doors)....yikes.

My motorcycle club recently banned smoking from monthly meetings....a club where drinking and smoking used to be the norm....many have stopped or new members don't so the non-smokers (one in particular) made a motion to bann it and many of the smokers (my mother included) didn't vote. It was passed and t months later reversed (due mostly to me). They said it was harmfull to their health....1hr a month? not even. Anyway those are smoking ban news/stories I have.

I personally love the no smoking bans. Nothing like coming home from a evening out and not having your clothes and hair smell like an ashtray.

Since we've hijacked this to a smoking ban thread, I've gotta say it only takes me 5 minutes in Las Vegas to appreciate California's smoking ban.

Not to Vegas, never been there, but anywhere. I have to wear a seatbelt cuz it's safe, but I can also buy tobacco which is not. They can feed the addiction crap, but I used Copenhagen for 8 years and was able to stop. Nicotine is nicotine. I even hated cigs when I dipped snuff.
