Shimano's 2025+ Deore/XT/XTR gruppos will be wireless, but with the option of wiring the derailleur to the main battery (e-tube essentially) for ebikes.
there was an interview recently on pb w/ the mtb drivetrain mgr for shimano, his comments indicated mechanical XT isn't going anywhere.
From the promo material I've seen, just Deore will be 12sp and old cable style. All 13sp groupsets (Deore and up) will be wireless.

I was thinking about this.. what about throwing the batteries for our shifter/derailleur into these mass dampers? I understand the weight has to be pretty specific so that might be a challenge. I have been wondering for a couple years why ebikes are not gearbox. Figured it would be the perfect time to get rid of the fragile dangly bits. You have battery so gripshift not needed. Less mass so a bit better suspension action as a side effect as well.
Pinion has a combined motor and gearbox already out there. I agree it makes sense. https://pinion.eu/en/e-drive/
Yeah this thing looks sick... for an ebike
. Ton of torque (160nm) also vs traditional drivetrain ebikes (85nm-ish). I wonder if the gearbox can take more torque.
