Too many shitty jobs to list or remember, but some memorable ones:

  • Cart buggy collector at Canadian tire in high school. Pretty great job, even if at absolute bottom of the totem pole; just had to show up on time, collect the carts, fuck around in the warehouse for a few hours and then collect the carts before leaving.
  • Chocolate factory. Meh another shitty job, I basically walked through the place and made sure the floors were clean. But very cool to see all that automated production equipment. For the size of the plant, there was basically no one working in it. Giant t-rex sized robot at the end moving boxes around too.
  • Fox clothing. Worked at the distributor or whatever it was called for a few years. Low pay, but man the people I worked with were awesome. Lunch beers were a regular thing, probably too regular. The son or whoever of the family who owns Fox ended up marrying a Canadian girl and then upended the whole Canadian business and moved it to the Calgary. I got a job with the new place but ended up not going. Maybe should have? IDK.
  • Plastic bag factory warehouse. This place drove me insane. Just myself and one other dude in the warehouse, I could not stand the guy but dug deep and continued. Jerry the janitor was great. We had to unload 40-foot shipping containers by hand in the heat of the summer. I ended up doing one by myself, while donkey sat in the office and did paperwork. That week I said fuck this shit, applied to college and then quit. Jerry cheered on my way out.
  • Walmart for 1 semester in college. This was the all-time shitty job. Just mindless work at 4am. Only listing here because I ended up saying fuck it one day and just stopped going - they didn't call me for like a month wondering if I was going to show up again. No thanks, I'll just live off the remainder of my student loan and saving rather than work there more.
  • Delivered and picked up cars for an autobody shop, also in college. Was dull but got to drive some cool cars.
  • Student tutor/assistant in college for a Linux BASH programming class. This was funny, I almost failed that class when I took it, because I did so poorly in the first half of the semester. Then everything clicked and I did very well. Ended up assisting this blind kid with programming - he did all the work; I don't know what I was for. He also mouthed off to the prof every class.
  • Post college now I work at an automotive manufacturing company and have for almost 10 years. It's not bad and I've got a comfortable job; not the greatest but for the most part I control what I do day in and day out, so not much to really complain about.

I've actually wondered what that would have lead to.

Back then I would have got a not insignificant pay raise, but it is less than what I make now.

And if I went, who knows what opportunities there would have been for me?

And on the other hand, by not going and ending up with that absolute trash bag of a job, I ended up in college and with the job I have now...

That is not parmesan. Just try to melt it in a pan. Real cheese will melt and toast nicely. That stuff just smoulders.
I have no defense. I sprinkled some on my spaghetti last night.

It was more out of habit and expectations than desire for delicious cheese.

Why not?
  • Paper route as a kid
  • Pizza delivery and dishwashing
  • Worked at a full-service gas station for awhile
  • Back to Pizza delivery and dishwashing
  • Worked at a Kmart for awhile
  • Started at my current company as an Architectural/Structural drafter about 20 years ago
  • Currently pretending to be an Architect.

canmore seems more human at least
You're looking at the wrong spot ya switchback dork.

Buddies and I rode near Calgary at Moose Mountain back in July. There was none of that... :D
ok there was, but they call them climbing trails.

Kanaskis ain't banff
I'm saying why even bother looking around Banff where all the tourists are?

Moose is closer to Calgary, less people, you don't have to reserve a spot to look at some river or lake and the trails are good and you can shuttle.

My friends in Cochrane never goto Banff or Canmore. One of their sons did say there is some super steep stuff off the map in Canmore though....but again even then he never goes because of the town.

See?

Y'all know ;)

That area reminds me of a lot of the places here. Rich fucks that have effectively taken over ownership of supposedly public lands because they don't want to see the undesireables. A few trails through those bigass mountain valleys would be awesome. And most of those idiots would never even know they're back there

Stop it ! You have unfettered access to some of the most delicious fresh fruit and veggies around. Go get a freaking wedge of good cheese to go with it. Gah…
While we grow the high quality fruit and veg, we are decidedly redneck and backwards in all other instances. If my people knew how liberal I really was, they would think blank thoughts and not know what to think. Fancy cheese? FANCY CHEESE??? R U KIDDIN ME?

I figure after 20 years here, a majority of that which has been a mod/admin of some kind, if someone who's interested can't find my LinkedIn profile, they suck at social engineering.

What do you mean? I follow JBP's Snapchat and he's on there 3-4x/day. You didn't see the last dance video he posted? Hilarious!
You're thinking of his TikTok, not Snapchat. But his Snapchat filter selfies are :o

Either way, those pop n locks are a true testament to the joint lubricating powers of glucosamine.
