I spent the week riding some 819s on XT hubs and they seemed stiff enough, less the QR front. I have been riding some Loco wheels, which are Formula hubs on Alex Supra Ds. That means they are heavy. Anyone have a good rim to suggest that will save some weight? I would like to shed a pound or two off of the Reign for the climbing trail rides. I'll keep the DH wheels for various rides, but don't like to carry the weight if I don't have to. I know I will be using Hope hubs up front most likely, and if I go 819s, I'll just use the 819/DT 240 I have now on the back.

What are your thoughts? Who rides what?

I'm running Kings with Mavic 819 laced with CX-Ray spokes. They seem plenty stiff to me. I'm not sure that I'd be able to tell the difference between a stiff wheel and one that was considered less stiff. You might look into DT 5.1s. Seem like they would be a sweet "all around" rim and you could go tubeless with DT's rim strips.

I am not sure if it's weight saving at all, but we have had good luck with Azonic Outlaws (front on my SS, rear on my wife's DH bike). I have also been running a Atom Lab Trail Pimp in the rear on my SS - heavy, I know, but has barely gone out of true and I rode it a lot this year.

What I would not recommend: DT Swiss 6.1 FR rims. Laced up a set with some sweet Chris King Hubs for my dh bike and pretty much got flat spots and tons of big dings right away.

I am not sure if the Outlaw hub is the same, but the rims on Outlaws are the same as the Loco wheels.

I've had amazing success with 317s. I'm not sure what they are called now but they are the highend disc only sub 400g rim.
I've got 6+ years on one set and I ride them hard.

I weigh 200 lbs nearly and can assure you that is not a good rim for me to ride on a 6" travel bike. Those will be going back on the wife's bike if I take the 819s back for me. They are 717 discs now. Thanks.

How much do you weigh? How rough are you on rims?

I've had good luck with my DT 4.1d rims. They aren't tubeless, but that doesn't matter to me.

The 317 on the front of the jamis is holding up nicely. Not sure how it would handle those 2.55s though. Order me a hope conversion, and I'll let you try it.
Dude, I am just under. I am so kicking your ass when I get back. I am totally able to suffer a climb right now.

I may look into some wheels like you have on the Banshee. Those seemed lighter than my wheels. I also may look into the conversion, but I am afraid to put 2.5s on something that narrow. I may look into Salsa rims too.

Order me a conversion anyway, and you really don't really need tires that wide.

The banshees are DT 440s with 321/219s.

Find the Mavic in the width you want and be done with it. Every time I stray I regret it.

Regardless, I would stay away from the DT 4.1. I am also 200 lbs and I find that they dent too easy. That's my experience anyway. And I don't run tubeless so I'm probably running higher pressures.
