Hey there. I haven't posted here before and I hope that you folks aren't too uptight about rambling threads.

The main cycling focus of this question is: has anybody tried the Cane Creek Aeroheat wheetset? I'm about to buy a set from Supergo and was wondering if anybody has good/bad experiences with them.

Should have mentioned these are MTB wheels...

The rest of this is basically a dump from my mind. Don't read any further if you don't want to see the inside of my head...

Has anybody else felt completely isolated from the world? I work from home and today I was mostly just trucking around doing errands. I realized that even while going out and about that the modern US world makes it very easy to avoid all human contact.

Need gas? You can pay at the pump. No need to talk or interact with anybodyl.

Groceries? Now we have the super convient self-check out lane. You can spend hours in the supermarket and never speak to anybody!

Great stuff, eh?

I spent the day feeling like I was an alien species. I was wandering around the market thinking about the people I saw and wondering who they were....like a biologist studying a group of insects. But then, who was the insect? Me? Them?

I don't want to scare anyone, so we'll stop here... Please do let me know what you think about wheels though...

sorry, no experience with those wheels.

But to address your isolation issue, at least you don't have anyone telling you that you can't look at porn!

The people I see at the market, gas station, bank, etc... make me want to be isolated. But I do like to people watch. Just give me a cup of coffee, a nice table with a view or park bench & alot of passer-by's I can stay amused for hours.

dude, gotta be snooty: passers-by. :D anyway, i am the same. in fact this weekend i spent a solid two hours just sitting on the steps of the main library at my old school (visiting for old times' sake), just watching people drift on by

No word on the wheels, huh? Oh well, I'm sure they're better than the trash I have now...

I agree with you guys that a lot of folks just don't get it. They're all wrapped up in stupid tv shows and making money to buy junk they don't need or want.

But...there are really fun people out there too. Working from home gets you weird in the head sometimes. Especially when I get busy and don't have time to ride.

I had to get out today, even though the sky was dropping some slush snow. After three hours I couldn't feel my fingers or toes and I was bonking so hard that I was swaying just trying to stand...

That was exactly what I needed!

Snow ? where do you live ?

as for the isolationism , lets not forget more and more we are using email instead of picking up the phone, hence one less human to talk to.

Brother, you live Summit... I'm guessing Dillon area?

That place is just big enough to lack the hometown feel and not big enough for you to feel like you can have your own little slice. What I mean by slice is having a group of friends big enough so you can go out, dominate a small portion of a restuarant, pub, theater, whatever and create a psuedo-hometown feel with your friends.

Plus, you're in mud season and that always messes with people. In a month or so, my friends and I will be back up there again -- ski season's over -- and we'll bring our bikes. A friend has a condo in Silverthorn, so we'll spend the weekends on occassion. I'll try to remember to post in the locals forum and you should come ride and drink with us.

Or if you come into town ;) let us know.
