I'm very tired, hungover and pissed off. Then I check my usual sites (Crooks And Liars, Think Progress, The Huffington Post) this morning and I am even more disgusted by our government than usual.

It's common knowledge that most Americans are stupid, lazy and indifferent, but when the fuq do people push back against this insane amount of corruption and the constant stream of lies coming from the mouths of the fuqqers that are supposed to be there representing us?

Rant over.

I think there are a lot of people at or near the breaking point, but there's no way to get them organized. And they all know if they even talk about it, they will be in Gitmo.

I know what you mean, I would like to think or hope that the goverment isn't out of reach of the common folks yet, but even if we start from scratch, there will always be curption when dealing with power. I have tried to come with some good idea on how to stop it, but in the end i don't think they would work. Anyone have any good and REASONABLE ideas???

Push back at the polls.
Push back with your purchases.
Write your senator and tell him what you think.

Otherwise your just a nut with a gun, we've got enough of those

I hear ya. I just wish more Americans would open their eyes and see what's really going on. I rode downtown by the Suns game last night and I was amazed at how many mouth breathers and Range Rover pilots (I swear I saw at least 30 Rovers) were just tromping through their lives without a concern for anyone but themselves.

So sad.

They have been pushing back for the last ~50 years, the problem is people just aren't realizing it.

We've been pushing back at the polls, for the longest time the overwhelming majority of Americans have voted "None of the above", but the spin has been put out that people who don't vote are "apathetic". That may be the case in some, but for me it's because I value my vote to be more than the lesser of two evils.

We've been pushing back on personal levels for years. People are always trying to do what's right. I would actually disagree that the majority of Americans are NOT fat, lazy and stupid, but that the majority of visible Americans are. No one wants to watch the news about a teacher who helps their students, or gives an opportunity to someone who might not have it, we want to watch the news about teachers who sleep with their students, and stupid white trash millionaire heiresses who can't freaking read.

correction: the majority of americans are fat. obese? not quite, but getting there... probably true in the south by now.

lazy and stupid? well, half of americans are dumber and lazier than average, let me tell ya that...

aren't governments like ours the ones that the founding fathers hated? maybe what this country needs is a good, non-violent coup. i'm not the fondest of the direction our government has gone because the people are not the ones being represented. i have come to terms with the fact that some form of a government is a must, we'd need to completely restart civilization for anarchy to be successful(unfortunately). the government holds too much power, we need to get some of that back in the hands of the people who actually keep this nation afloat.
Your missing the point by like a million light years.....:monkey:
i think your brain is broken, you might want to get that checked out.

Were your founding fathers saints? Were they really so altruistic or were they perhaps similarly wealthy and powerful people to those who remain in power today?

they definitely were not saints. i was just asking a rhetorical question because these days anyone who thinks about overthrowing the government, be it peaceful or not, is considered a terrorist.

Ummm, nothing's that different from previous eras...and the fact that the administration really has become a joke does have political repercussions. The political climate will change, but the rich and influential will always have power in any system...that's what wealth and influence are. Our system does, however, provide some sort of check on that power...it just doesn't happen instantly.

The ignorant who vote are also the most fickle, which is sort of a lucky thing. I do wish there were more choices in our system, but those will likely evolve from the current state of things.

During Vietnam, people felt as bad about the world situation and America's situation as we do now. It's sad that there's a recurrence, but it doesn't mean it's somehow the end of the line...and we truly do need to worry about the hulking shell of history that America seems to be degrading into. But it's more about what people are demanding than anything else.

We've not demanded the right things at the polls...this is a direct result. It's a shame it had to go this far before Joe Average started to see something was wrong, but in the end, I'm also as glad Bush was re-elected as I was in 2004. Tragic, but if Kerry had won, we'd still be in Iraq and/or just as many Iraqis would still be dying, and people would be clamoring to get a Bush-y guy (or Bush himself!) back into office to 'fix what the liberals broke.' The bad consequences of corrupt, nepotistic politics sprinkled with populist pandering are now plain for all to see.

Also kills me that if we'd spent half the cost of the Iraq war up front in aid, incentives, and development, we'd probably have most of the middle east far further on the road to democracy, instead of basically turning back the clock, fostering hatred of ourselves, and ending up with so many dead and so much destroyed.

I do wonder when America will be able to better look before we leap on a mass scale.
