Or do you call at all?

I sent my resume & my demo dvd out last week & they should have received it last thursday...should I call monday to ask whether or not they got it? or wait until friday? or just sit & wait for them to call me?

Anyone have an experience with this? It has been forever since I have looked for a jobbie-job.

thnx!

You submitted a resume and a DVD. Wait about a week and then call back. You'll want to give them time to review your work.

If you want to confirm that they got it I recommend asking that question when you call for your follow up.

You: "Hello. This is ___________. I recently sent in my resume and a DVD of my work. I just want to follow up to make sure everything arrived in good order and to see if you have had time to review the content.

Rarely should you sit around and wait for them to call you. It's passive jobseeking and employers generally like someone who is proactive in wanting to work for the company.

so you and Laura would move here? Awesome!
If I have what it takes. I think I have a decent shot but I guess it depends on the competition, politics, etc...

We are not ready to move because La has 1 1/2 semesters left before she graduates & I really don't want to spend that time apart.
This is just such a good opportunity. Plus Denver frikkin rocks.

Awesome opportunity! I've been looking to change jobs recently too. Generally, in my cover letter, I indicate that I'll call in a week to follow up. Then I do! Might want to give them alittle more time, since there's clips involved. What kind of work do you do?

Who did you send it to? Was there a point of contact, of was it like an AOL cd that you just sent to a random company?

If you have a point of contact, I would call that person to see if they got it and had a chance to review it. Otherwise, you'd be lucky if anyone will see it.

<edit> sorry if that sounded harsh. But around here, companies like Intel and Nike get hundreds of resumes for any and all openings they advertise. So unless you send it to someone you know or have some degree of contact, 95% of the resumes will not even be reviewed.

I already work for the company & jobs get posted internally first & it has only been posted for a week. so....I think it will get seen. Plus my current boss is buddies with the dept. head there.
*fingers crossed*
(it didn't sound harsh either)

I am going to call & maybe e-mail too. :busted:

Bluebug-I am a graphic artist for for the Fox station here.

at the end of the longest line
it's much better to err on the side of contacting them too much verses not enough.
twice is too much in most cases i'd say, if they havent contacted you already they arent interested, arent ready, or are such slow-poke goofs you'll get a random call two months after you find a job. The second call (do i have the job yet???) can seem desperate and annoying. If i was still reviewing and you kept calling, I'd probably pitch the application. Then again, i hate pushy types.

edit: didnt read the above, i'd say harass them and threaten their pets until you get it....

Looking for a job sucks. I once lost a job that I was recruited by the ultimate hiring manager for because at the interview's conclusion, I did not specifically ask for the job. I guess my thanking him for his time and asking what the next step in the hiring process was did not amount to being aggressive enough in this chump's eyes. All the better I didn't get it as it wasn't a sales position or one in which such a stance would normally be considered important.
