Hi, I just finished building my new bike, but noticed the seatpost is way too long.

Where do you usually take your seatpost to have it cutted? LBS? Automotive shop? How much should they charge me?

I think most of the folks here would cut it on their own. There really isn't much to it, you need a way to mark it, a hacksaw or a tubing cutter and a file. Mark where you want to make your cut with marker, tape etc. Cut it to length with the saw or tubing cutter. File off any burrs with the file. Done.

The thing is I dont have any tools at home (just regular bike tools) since I move from Europe a few months ago... But I will try to do it in my friends garage

take it to a local bike shop, buy some lube or something and ask the mechanic to cut it they proabally wont charge if you buy something, if they do it will be minimal.

A hacksaw is a pretty cheap item.

If you can't do it yourself, Passion Trail Bikes in Belmont is where I would take it.
