Whey Protein...Isn't That the Same As...

the protein in cottage cheese and yogurt?

OK, the nutrition store stuff is ion-exchanged whey protein. For you food gurus, isn't that a fancy name for fat free? Like fat free cottage cheese?

I was thinking of that nursery rhyme of the girl eating her curds and whey and, hey, isn't curds and whey cottage cheese?

I have been drinking the EAS Low Carb Ready To Drink stuff after my morning rides and the basic nutrition data looks ok. Just that there has to be a better value out there as far as diet is concerned.

Any ideas?

I like to drink whey shakes after I work out. works better than soy for me. Go to your health food store and look for it in bulk. I find it a much better value than the designer can brands but I guess it depends where you shop.

I don't think I could eat cottage cheese after a workout but thats just me

I was taking whey stuff, but I'm lactose intolerant so even 98% fat free proteins TEAR ME UP. You don't want to be in the same room as me after I've eaten a protein bar. Problem with Whey protein companies is that every magazine is a bitch or some whey protein company ie MuscleMag International is a Muscletech, makers of Nitrotech/hydroxycut/celltech, ho. That and a majority of muscle mags are just porno mags for guys with a inferiority syndrome.

whey comes from milk however it's not same the same protein. It's actually an isolate. Whey is the best protein to take after a workout because 90% of it is absorbed by your muscles within the first 10 min of ingesting it. However, taking whey with milk slows the process of digestion so whey should be taken with water for a post-workout shake. You can use milk or yogurt if you want to delay the process of they absorbsion. Another reason why whey is good is because of it's branched amino acid profile. The best whey I have ever tasted so far is Ultimate Prostar Whey. You can get a 2lb tub @ $12.50 or a 5lb @ $23 from Total sport Nutrition. If you mention mtbmind.com when ordering, they will take off an aditional 5%.

*Each serving of the Ultimate whey is 23 grams. You don't want to take more than 25 grams each serving because your muscles can't absorb it all.

Enjoy!

nr,
Thanks for the link. I looked the profile up on the Ultimate ProStar Whey and it does have the low carb profile I was looking for. That is a heckuva lot less than GNC even with their first of the month discounts. The nearest major city to me is Orlando and that is over an hour away so I do most of my unique shopping via mail order.

Thanks again,
mp

Yeah the reason I use it is because of the low carb count and also very low sugar count (1gram). It's the best tasting stuff I've tasted so far and I'm not about to switch.

Yeah I'm still trying to figure out how he sells so cheap but I'm not complaining. You'll get an extra 5% off also when you mention mtbmind.com which is cool.

Let me know how you like it if you decide to try it.
