For what kind of pain? After riding soarness I grab advil. For headaches and the pre-emptive hangover I have been taking this new(er) stuff called Excedrin "Headache" medicine. Its a cocktail of Asprin and Ibuprofen with a touch of caffeine thrown in. I tell ya what it works GREAT.

Ibuprofin absolutely doesn't even touch my pain. I can take 1000mg and not even have the edge taken off... It's weird.

I take asprin for everything :D - I know sometimes it's just a placebo but it works well for most small pain.

For muscle aches you want Ibuprofin. Not so much because of it's pain killing capabilities, but because it is an anti-inflamitory. When ever my back goes out the doc hooks me up with the 800mg's to drop the swelling, once the swelling and pressure is releved the pain starts to go away.

Jim Beam does'nt hurt either. ;)

Gotta go with the ol stand-by....Vitamin KGB.
Works everytime. No matter the ache, always looser after a bowl or two.

I use that one for pain. I find that while sometimes the pain is still there afterwards, I just don't care anymore.

Morphine kills pain .. but I really didn't like the side effects

for real pain 2 Tylenol and 2 Motrin and it's all good, for real pain I'll dip into the stash of vicodin I save up a few of whenever they're prescribed. Still got plenty left from my knee surgury, I'm set for a while :D

And to think I missed that and live in northern california. Bad woo.

But yeah I found smoking a bit did wonders after I'd gotten sick on narcotic pain killers after knee surgery and handn't eaten for about 4 days. Kind of like morphine: doesn't really make the pain go away but sure makes listening to ween much more interesting than thinking about the ouch.

my vote is for neproxin..basically 800mg of ibuprofen
Naproxen is different, as I recall. That is what I was prescribed after my spinal compression fractures. It's more of a muscle relaxant than anything, but very effective for back pain. I have had IB 800s and they do work well, though- probably better than anything for structural pains.

Someone just informed me one could buy Vicadin and Percoset online. Being a person with minimal self-control when it comes to things of this nature, I insisted he not give me any further information. If this over-the-post-office-counter accessibility negates those drugs from being "perscription", I'd have to go with those as faves for aches and pains.

Otherwise, it's all about the yoga. Inhale deeply.....exhale completely.....

None...

seriously. Live with the pain.

If it is really bad.....like when I dislocated my shoulder. I took nothing when they put it in and Tylonal PM (or was it Xtra strength?) on the ride home (5+hrs) I had a perscription for Vicoden and never filled it. After a couple days of moderate uncomfortable pain I wasn't taking any thing.

I pass on the pain killer stuff...if it is enough to make me want something than it is going to require other attention....and better drugs.

Naproxen or Aleve, similar but much better than Ibuprofen, not as hard on your liver.

For real pain chew on some oxycotin :sneaky:

Same here, I absolutely hate taking any kind of pain medication. Ocassionally if I have a really bad headache I'll take a couple Tylenol, but other than that I try to stay away from the stuff.

Of course I've never been in the kind of situation where the pain is extremely unbearable. But for everyday/riding/work aches and pains I just tough it out.

A public service message from the dork who reads the bottles:

Don't mix Tylenol, Excedrin, or Vicodin with alcohol.

Alcohol and acetaminophen together are not good for you liver at all.

Same thing goes with hangovers. Ibuprofen or aspirin (although those can be bad if you have a sensitive stomach) is better than Tylenol.

Tylenol is pretty useless for any athletic related pain anyways. Ibuprofen helps reduce swelling, and that's key.

Nuprin, Advil and Motrin are all the same thing..... ibuprofen.

Naprocin and Aleve are Naproxen sodium.

Hydrocodone (was referenced as hydrocodeen in the thread) is vicodin, and is a prescription med here in the US.

I don't take any of them....Jager is fine with me. :thumb:

If the pain is bad i will take half of a vicodin or morphine, my mom has so much i never get a perscriptin unless she needs more in her colection. I just take advil for small things like headaches or sorness.
