I know there are two types of SPD cleats, single and multi directional release.

I also know there is one that is worlds better than the other...but can't remeber which one?

I'm partial to the single-release - much less chance of popping out accidentally. If you're not too keen on clipless, or afraid of wrecking and being stuck to the bike, go with the multi-release...

Multi release are only good for senior citizens and people just starting out.
