i have never had a bad tire expirience in my life. Ive raced in all kinds of conditions with michelins, specialized, kendas, maxxis, I guess the proper tire could shave off a few seconds and you could accelerate better through turns........ but if you look at all the big companies, big DH or freeride tire for wet conditions they will all preform pretty much the same. People will probally disagree with me, but I have expiramented with many different DH tires and they all corner and roll pretty much the same. Honestly unless ur looking for seconds differnce i guess you should research some tires but I wouldnt really worry about it as long as its a tire from a reliable company.
wow there is deffinatly a right tire for every type of condition. but brand is all a matter of prefferance and also some conditions can also make or brake what kind of tire you get. also a tire can add or cut time off a run because of how well it hooks up in the conditions. i dont know exactly what type of tire would be the best but ask some guys on ridemonkey. they will deffinatly know.
actually my freind tires do make a difference... they roll differently... i guesse in ur alrge expanse of knowledge uve enver come across "rampped bite" tires or tires for muddy conditions? Are you saying a 3 inch gazzi rolls the same as an arrow ramped bite?

haha.... no, the gazzis definately roll differently then any other tire........but notice i said "check out any DH tire for wet condition" this narrows the search down, and yes i do believe tires in this catagory roll the same if they are standard size......not a monster gazzi that weighs 5 pounds
The wider and flatter bottomed tires will do best. just look at dune-buggys.
I have had great success floating on the ashtray sand in the moab area leaving my partners behind with my Maxxis mobster or high roller 2.7's. Run them on the low side of the air pressure (I run 19 or so).
I've never been there, but I saw that Rennie was using Bling Blings on his DH bike. I have run that combo on small DH courses and they rule. They roll super fast and have great side knobs.
