shoestring is cheap, it's a hostel, $20, ya share a room though, 4 beds. they don't care if you bring in bikes.

pretty dead during the week:

(can anyone else see this picture? trying to figure out if my pbase account expired)

without food, you'll stay for free. did that for 4 or 5 days this summer. 'twas badass.

god i miss that place. :(

when i was there (late July and early August) the weather was badass. well, quite hot during the day, but the nights were awesome. if you're just gonna be there a few days, really, just sleep in Lot 4. you can get potable water from Riverside, showers from Riverside, laundry from Riverside.

and free hot showers at Riverside.

i can't find my little Whistler Lodging guide, but from what i remember, Riverside was the only campground. and to be honest, i didn't like it. parking was not by the campsite, like every other campground i had been to. it was in the parking lot. made unloading, and loading a big pain in the ass, since our sites were not near the parking lot. and if you get drunk (which i found absolutely neccessary considering it was my first night there, and it was the thursday of CrankWerx) you're only a little walk away from your bed.

I thought that there is a sign that they no longer allow camping. In Lot 4 they allow overnight parking but warn of being ticketed and towed if you camp there. Do they not enforce that?

i asked a few locals, employees, and even some of the people who ran a hostel. they all told me it was ok, and that they only enforced it during the winter months. i ran into a guy who had been there a few days prior to me, and he no problems with tickets. i slept in the cab of my truck, next to, and facing, the sidewalk that runs parallel with the parking lots. i wouldn't go there and throw up like 5 tents, and ****, but i'd have no reservations about sleeping in my vehicle.

Its 'ok'...

Basically...don't look like you live there, hang laundry, pitch a tent, get changed outside etc...keep it clean and you will be left alone.

OK the shoestring wont be there come next summer.... sad very very sad. need more room for condo's! Its a damn shame, where else is there a hostel/bar/rippers/beer and wine????? oh and wicked bands are always playin,,, punknight anyone?

If you are comin from england and you are gonna be there for 3 months, just find a room in a house. Summer time everyone and there brother has places for rent.

das boot ballet is the best thing about whistler... that and the mountain i guess...

There is no replacement yet. No ghetto local strippers showing their good for all to see (not that most of us haven't seen them, one night drunk at garfs proves the ease of use with whistler girls), punk night...gone...everyone in this town is a hip hop pussy now, couldn't mosh with a pile of school girls, good music is gone down the ****ter, cheap local beer...brew house, but the class of service is too high....
