Wow, I just checked the Whistler site after looking at this and was kind of shocked at their top elevation...only 7500 feet? I'd always thought they were around 11,000...Is the climate just conducive to good skiing?

It has over 5000 ft of vertical. It also gets tons of snow cause its so close to the ocean = lots of wet air.
It's not the powder you get in Ut, but it's good in it's own right.

There is never a lack of precipitation and the freezing level generally stays low enough during the winter for decent snowfall. The temps get even colder though when its clear. That is why there is so much construction going on right now to add more snow making abilities. You wouldn't want the Olympics with no snow to run the events.
