Im not really sure if this is political or not, but Im curious what you guys think about these "gangsta" style white dudes who're trying to play the role of their favorite rapper (or it seems that way to me)? I mean, is this a style thing, or are the deeper cultural meanings and what does this trend mean for the future if anything. AND is there a known response from the African American community on what's up with these guys?
Do we accept this as diversity, or is it just a novelty?

Also, I want to debate on hip-hop culture and its future ramifications.

It's all childhood sillyness.......

Kind of like "Punks" who express their distaste for conformity by all dressing exactly like each other!!

Ah, a quick google image search showed me a corn roll is. :D

Just seems to me that white boys dress the look because they want to look tough. And from what I understand, the black community laughs at them.

Maybe I am just getting old but most of it seems silly no matter your skin color. But if you have the hair to pull off cornrows go for it.

Funny thing though, last week I saw a guy yelling at some cops accusing them of profiling, he was wearing a shirt that said "Gangsta"

How about Brian Lopes, as seen in Ride the Lightning with his corn rows - I realize that he could probably give a f*** about showing how hard he is (everybody knows already) - but he still looks like a f@g. Corn rows only look decent if your skin and hair are somewhere near the same color.

shaved is the only way to go - anything that requires actually looking in the mirror to make sure it's alright is too much. Had mine shaved for years and tried growing it out recently - man, what a bitch.

Can't judge books by their cover.

The smart kids who are thugs won't have "the ghetto look" and will get away with their mis-deeds, it's always been like this.....

The black entertainment and clothing industries are making a bundle off all the white homey gangsta wannabes, so I'm sure they're glad to see all the Causasian doofuses posing around in FUBU and really awful dreads and cornrows, doing all the spastic hand stuff and talking like they have speech impediments.

Ah yes, he looked just like all those homosexuals I see everywhere with their corn rows and bicycles. In fact, corn rows and bicycles might as well be synonomous with same-sex lovin'. You braid up your hair, hop on your trek, and head to the corner and you'll have screwy sailors on you like Cheney on Zoloft.

My apologies - wouldn't want to hurt your feelings over a matter of semantics - I meant he looked like an idiot (not that there's anything wrong with being one - mind you) Ahhh fvck - how about this - he looked silly - is that better?
