Big Plans for the Big Mountain!

Last season was our 1st real season of having a paid trail crew. Our customers really seemed to notice, and were noticing small improvements each week they came. We have always wanted to do that, but it just wasn't possible. The trail projects combined with other things led to our best year ever. A big thanks to all they came out to Whiteface! So, we plan on going for it more and more each year. Whiteface is huge and what we are picturing is really another 10+ years in the making.
In the next couple of weeks there will be an official press release from the NYS Olympic Regional Development Authority on a few things we have been working on this off-season.
Here is just a teaser of what we have been up to.
* For May and June of 2012 we have budgeted for 800 man hours of trail maintenance, improvements, re-routes, etc. just for our trail crew. More local kids and others have been showing up like crazy to help and possibly tripling the number of man hours (2,400 hours of trail work before we open!). We have also been speaking with a few trail builders getting quotes on either a jump line or flow trail. This will be completed before we open!
* Huge cycling event on our opening weekend of June 15 -17 with races and/or competitions in, downhill, dual slalom, road, x-c MTB, dirt jumps and trials. Combined athletes will total approximately 1,200 to 1,500!
* 7th Annual 5 K DH on 8-8/9, 2012.
More on this as great things progress.
Here's another angle and better pic of the stream crossing:
