Alright I've found plenty of people to bike with off this board. Now I need some people to hit the slopes with.
Well I usually like to go hit up Liberty and Whitetail on the weekends and usually take one trip a year to a bigger place like Colorado or at minimum out to Snowshoe.

I can bomb down about any slope, but I would like to learn some of the park stuff.

I don't care if you ski or snowoard, because I do neither. I skiboard, which you have either never heard of or if you have heard of you don't understand it.

Well I think it would be great to hit the slopes with some of the guys I Freeride and DH with. So maybe we can get a monkey ski trip upto Whitetail or something.

Here are what skiboards look like BTW. The top is my new set which I'll be using this season.

OK, so are you just going to tell us that you skiboard and we are too dumb to know what it is, or are you gonna explain it to us?
Sorry mike, I didn't want to go into details, but since you asked here you go.

Skiboards are essentially short skis which are shaped and built like snowboards. Its like having mini snowboards on your feet. Skiboards mainly range in size from 75cm to 120cm, with the shorter ones mainly for groomers and terrain park, while the longer boards are good for all mountain riding.

Most skiboards are ridden with non-releasable bindings for the added stability, however there are release bindings on the market.

Skiboards are used with normal skiboots, and hardshell snowboard boots. Also Skiboarders rarely use poles (I don't), as skiboards are quicker to maneuver on the slopes and a skating technique can be used to move around on the flats.

One of the misconception about skiboards are that they will sink up in powder. However skiboards are about 30%-40% wider than normal skis, therefore 100cm skiboards have approximately the same surface area as standard 175cm skis and float over powder just fine

Skiboards are often confused with Salomon Snowblades. Salomon Snowblades are super short skis which are often used by beginners and people who want to jump right into riding more advanced terrain without mastering skis. Therefore skiboards have gotten somewhat of a bad rap because of these "snowbladers".

The difference between snowblades and skiboards can be seen the attached photo:

You cannot find skiboards in ski shops and if you ask they'll likely try to sell you snowblades or a snowblade like product from another major manufacturer. There are only a few "core" companies that make true skiboards anymore. Skiboards are available on these websites:

Man that explanation was long. Sorry to bore you.

I usually snowboard at Whitetail, timberline, roundtop, and liberty. After biking at wintergreen this summer I think a trip up there is in order. What are the slopes like ?

I'll probably be heading up to Whitetail on Dec 17th (assuming there is snow). No riding for me this weekend because I'm in California. Anybody want to meet up then let me know.

Wintergreen is really good boarding for around here! They always have a ton of snow and unlike other resorts around here u aren't skiing/boarding on have dirt half snow. Its a lot of fun. If your into park got a fun terrain park. not sure if they redesigned it though.

The park gets changed up regularly. My friend Peter is running the park as of this year. If you want something done, help out with the building and your voice will be heard. The terrain right now is set up on the edge of upper dobie. Today there was a nice kicker that led into a 7ft. gap to the C bench slide. I've been riding every day since Sunday and we could really use some COLD weather to get things rolling. I'll be there again tomorrow if any of you monkeys want to ride.

How does the riding out here compare to let's say Tahoe or Whistler? I grew up in Reno, have been riding out there since it was accepted to bring a board on the ski hill. After four years in Louisiana I miss the snow in way's I can't express.

mud'n'sweat, by the way, that profile pic is great. I choked Linda Lovelace, that's old school porn there.

Honestly, pretty lame in comparison.... but it's really not fair to compare the east to either. You do the best with what you've got you know. I'm coming from being a former resident of Crested Butte, Colo. and damn do I miss it (Along with the 401 trail in CB). I'd say the terrain parks around here are pretty good though since there is no real natural terrain to polish the skills on.

Long live Linda! :)

I will have to see about getting up that way once January happens.

But on the upside I just found out that in a scant year I might be back in the Pacific North West, so my happy meter just went up.

On a nonrelated note, have you seen Inside Deep Throat? Linda became a big Jesus freak, her family hated the whole thing, and the Feds tried to hang the whole production group from the yard arm. Pretty educational flick.
