who is the most versatile pro?

Fonzie18

Cedric.
Kills it in DH, MX, DS, DJ and of course freeriding. He hits huge lines and still has the smoothness/endurance to be one of the best DH/MX/DS racers in the world.
But it is a toss up between Cedric, Tomac and perhaps Rennie.

Sanjay is not pro yet (He should be)!! But his MTX/DH and dj skills are siiiiiick (Fronj)

I do think currently the most VERSATILE meaning you give them a bike and they'll do their best to show you the way that bike was meant to be ridden, is CAs Mark Weir, he's an animal. DH/STXC/XC/Super D/etc

As far as DH most well rounded, that prize goes to Cedric, I just don't think he could hold a candle to Weir in what 90 percent of NORMAL mtn bikers call riding. (xc/trail)

personally I really respect those that can do it all...should be more recognized.

while I agree Cedric is a very consistent rider in competition, Minnaar is a very versatile rider, having won 4X and DH races at World Cup level, raced XC (stage race marathons), even competes on the road here in SA in the off season......and let's not forget can dirt jump with the best in the wolrd....fact.

JT ruled the 90's....no doubt.

Seriously, Cedric is the most versatile pro right now. If there was a comp that combined all of xc, dh, ds, mx, dj, freeride, and street comps (to me "pro" means competition of some kind), Cedric wouldn't win 'em all but he would take the overall. He can do flips, suicide no-handers, etc. and would do fine in a dj or street comp, especially compared to other pros going for the overall (as opposed to the specialists). He is one fit mofo so he'd do better than a lot of gravity riders in the xc. And he consistently wins or places high in everything else, so he gets the award...but wait, none of us need to inflate his ego any more, he's already got looks, money, girls, free bikes and travel...so scratch all that, like I said I'm voting for Sanjay!

Some good mentions in there... Cedric, Weir (Mad respect for that guy), Tomac can still ride with the best of them... One guy who I think has been overlooked here is Lopes. He is another guy that can do it all.

Also, you may not hear about it all the time, but a lot of these guys ride other things like street, park, DJs etc...

Either way, it's hands down Tomac....and you're *()*(#@ retarded if you think anything else. I guess some people just have no respect for the amount of talent it takes to race in Europe (roadie) kill the XC scene and still dominate DH stuff...maybe if you tried all three you'de agree...but that is UNREAL
I'll tell you want's *()*(#@ retarded, is calling people *()*(#@ retarded for posting their opinions in a thread asking for opinions. :monkey:

tell me what you think
If you think Rennie (very professional) doesnt freeride just wait until the RedBull Freigh Train DVD comes out. He didnt get 2nd at 03 Red Bull Ride for nothing.
This man is a very versatile machine
big gaps, small gaps, DJ, Street, Jumps
man did it all, and so smoothly.
A couple of the backflips i saw him do his head was of jumps youd think arent big enough to get full rotation around.

Chase (great guy) does do DH, i dunno how his big jump abilities are, but techwise that guy is a genious, the ideas he has in his head are just phenomenal, you wouldnt think you could do some of the stuff on a bike, definatly a good alrounder aswell

He doesn't race pro dh very often but, Adam Craig is probally the best all-around cyclist on the face of the planet right now. Last year he could have easily won u23 xc and cx worlds, and he is still as fast on a dh bike as he was in the late 90's when he was beating all the New England pros at the trail 66 races. He has good trails flow too.

Just about the only thing Adam doesn't do well is race road, but if he raced a few more times a year he might actually learn some tactical skills.

Plus he is a pro rodeo-kayaker.

I think the guy who's is most versatile in the gravity disciplines is really kind of a moot point, as results wise Cedric takes it by a mile.

Historically Tomac is the one and only choice, and the Tomac idol sits right next to the Mercxx idol on the altar in my dungeon.

Yea, but in this case it's a lot like asking who is the greatest basketball player of our time. If you don't say MJ...well...lets just say you're not the sharpest stick in the box.

Now, maybe if the question was clearer, say, who is the most versitile DH only rider or who is the most versitile today we could have a debate, but I'm sorry, until you go do a stage race on your road bike and can understand it, you don't have grounds to tell me I'm wrong. (worlds longest sentence)

I guess I just have more respect for the guys that somehow rip the DH yet have put in the TIME to be fast in XC/RD whatever. It shows something special. The Adam Craigs/Mark Weirs of the world rarly get the recognition they truly deserve today....I wish there was an omnium compitition....alla NCCA nats

(but i'm biased...I race everything)

Crue Jones and ET.

ET could make the bike fly and stuff. But then again, I don't know if he'd really qualify because he wasn't actually pedalling the bike. His legs probably wouldn't even reach the top tube. So maybe it should be ET/Elliot as one rider.
