Wifey and I were given one this weekend as a holiday gift. Anyone own one? What have you cooked in it? How's the food come out? Any general thoughts or comments?

I probably would never think of buying one myself, so I'm trying to figure out how to put it to good use.

my mom made carrots in the pressure cooker.

She learned that one should not open the top part (the part that rattles) when the meal is still being cooked.

she had carrots all over the ceiling.

my parents own one, the only thing i've seen them really ever cook in it was beans

It's real good for slow cooked meat dishes, or to speed up a soup that's meant to be simmered for 10 hours etc etc

Meat comes outta the thing sooo melt in the mouth!

You're going to either end up blind or you are going to blow your kitchen up. Either way vids are a must.

I love our pressure cooker. We use it all the time. for veggies, for short ribs at one point. i've got the gourmet pressure cooker cookbook. it's got some good looking **** in it that I haven't tried yet.
