Well from the sounds of it, because these guys will likley get off with barely a tap on the wrist because they are protected by the union. If the rest of us out in the real world decided to f*** off in the middle of the day, we'd likley be punished in some way....

Perhaps I'm way outta line here.

You are pre-judging. If that does happen then you have a point, but as yet it appears that the employer has not tried to do anything (other than fire the guy who should have been checking on them).
