Sounds like a pot luck bomb, every one brings a piece. Ironic really being that the aircraft holds are the place most vulnerable for bombs.

I don't know, it doesn't sound like the new restrictions are too severe...

lifted off CNN:
These measures will prevent passengers from carrying hand luggage into the cabin of an aircraft with the following exceptions (which must be placed in a plastic bag):

Pocket size wallets and pocket size purses plus contents (for example money, credit cards, identity cards etc (not handbags);

Travel documents essential for the journey (for example passports and travel tickets);

Prescription medicines and medical items sufficient and essential for the flight (e.g. diabetic kit), except in liquid form unless verified as authentic;

Spectacles and sunglasses, without cases;

Contact lens holders, without bottles of solution;

For those traveling with an infant: baby food, milk (the contents of each bottle must be tasted by the accompanying passenger);

Sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight (nappies, wipes, creams and nappy disposal bags);

Female sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight, if unboxed (e.g. tampons, pads, towels and wipes) tissues (unboxed) and/or handkerchiefs;

Keys (but no electrical key fobs)

All passengers must be hand searched, and their footwear and all the items they are carrying must be X-ray screened.

I pity the fool that flies frequently for work.

And you're brain activity is so limited, you actually could tolerate sitting completely immobile, staring at the backrest in front of you for 6 hours straight.

Ya, sure. I'll even make sure to bring my tasteless weeping mortar just for you!

I routeinely carry on $15 000 in camera gear + a laptop that will absolutely NOT be checked unless the airline wants to cover every single penny of it, and not only $300. When I get to my destination I have to work, i cannot count on the airlines not loosing/breaking my tools.

I will be doing this for about the 5th time this summer next friday on the way to new zealand via LAX.

Notice, I specified a 6 hour flight. I think any longer than that, it would imply that he'd be leaving the continental US......
The he simply branches out into new ugly brass fixtures.

Also, n8 would never leave his beloved, ass backwards USA. The rest of the world is just inferior you know. :rolleyes:

I feel your pain, I was a 85K+/yr flier for way too long. Thankfully it was mostly international which sounds like your gig based on your preferred airlines.

Yeah 95% Intl, 150-200k a year. This year has been crazy. In the last 4 months I did 100k.

Just thought about this.....

So, if...and I use if in the "I really really REALLY hope this doesn't happen" context....

If there are more restrictions put on carry-ons, etc., et. al.: Will you be able to put up with screaming babies and other unruly children because they aren't allowed to have their favorite toy, binky, etc. and they get all riled up while in flight?

I usually put the iPod on shuffle and turn it up to drown out all the uselss talk (and occasional temper tantrums) that flutters about, but since those could perhaps be banned as well.....

There could be terrorist slobber (a liquid) on that binky!

I'd give up all my electronic toys if they'd ban anyone under 18 and anyone over 280lbs.

Oh ya. I have enough points that even when i fly on my own dime, i fly biz if possible. I don't use them for free tickets, just upgrades. On a 12.5hr flight it was pretty much a necessity as I have to hit the ground running for a week or so. I'd be dead from jetlag if i couldn't sleep on board. I have a really hard time sleeping sitting up, it sucks.

The last 2 times i flew coach it was due to the price/airline ...easyjet and Ryan air. Now THAT was an experience.

at least ryanair's legs are short (relatively speaking), though the connections suck. that's why we never flew 'em when we were living in europe. no guaranteed connection w/ two young kids = nightmare if you are delayed. aer lingus wasn't too bad and they dropped prices to compete w/ ryanair.

even w/ the flat beds in business class on BA, the seats are too hard to get comfortable, and you have to turn over a lot. at least that's what i've experienced, and i've flown biz class on BA at least 10 times. that said, it's still far better than biz class on lufthansa or aer lingus.

Ya, I flow ryan and easyjet between london and glasgow and london and milan. Relatively short flights. It was like a bloody 3rd world bazarre on board though. They try and sell everything from jewelry to perfume to booze to food. Crazy, but super fun when you only do it once on a short flight.

All i need is to be able to rest my head and I can fall asleep, so the air beds will work well for me. If i have a window seat (in coach) there is a decent chance i can use a sweatshirt to sleep on. If i have a middle or aisle seat, forget it. Not a wink of sleep will be had.
