Riding past the morgue.
Had to have been a hell of a ride.

Its been a couple years back but in Chicago an Aer Lingus 777 did pretty much the exact same thing to one of our 700's. Made the vertical stab of the 700 not so straight. They gave it a good once over and found a crew to fly it to Tuscon where it got rebuilt. Apparently needed a lot of trim to get there, but it flew. I was asked to go down and babysit the re-build but couldn't go cause my daughter had just been born. I'll give the guy who went a call and see if he still has pics.

I'm no stress engineer, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if the A380 comes out in worse shape than the RJ after this. Wing box is carbon on the 380. And wings are (mostly) loaded up and down....not really meant to be whacked fore-aft. And the moment on a wing that long....I would think would be pretty substantial. So I would not be surprised if the wing box has some issues now.

Is that an A380 or an A340???

MMike is right if it's an A380 and the wing box is carbon they'll essentially have to de-mate the wing and replace it.

That poor CRJ, the vertical stab will need to probably be replaced, hopefully the attach points aren't jacked. It might have put a twist on the fuse as well, which would require replacing / repairing stringers and replacing skin. Not to mention what it did to the landing gear and the attachments (the side loads). I wouldn't be surprised if they have to scrap the CRJ.

I thought it was a 340 too. But I did some more digging and the aspect ratio of the video is messed up so it's all stretched out. There are some other still photos out there and it's definitely a 380. And the ATC refers to "Air France 7 Super"

from the wikipedia:
While most of the fuselage is aluminium, composite materials comprise more than 20% of the A380's airframe.[106] Carbon-fibre reinforced plastic, glass-fibre reinforced plastic and quartz-fibre reinforced plastic are used extensively in wings, fuselage sections (such as the undercarriage and rear end of fuselage), tail surfaces, and doors.[107][108][109] The A380 is the first commercial airliner to have a central wing box made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic.
