Whos gonna build my rims

Well I've come into an extremely large ammount of cash

$1500

So I pay off my brooklyn and another bill I have to pay and I got like $1000 left for a wheelset and fork.
Now either I get one of those 05' 66's or an 05 Z.1 150 or use my shiver SC off my hardtail. I don't really want to rape a functional hardtail, so I'm inclined to get a new fork. Now as far as a wheelset, I've decided on king ISO Disc hubs, with a stainless steel cassette body and fun bolts for the rear and 20mm King for the front.

Here's the question. Are the trailpimps really that bad? I'm not like 3/4 of you all hardcore duds and dudettes on here. I SUCK. Plain and simple, I SUCK. I've seen a few peeps with trailpimps and they haven't had problems with them, but everyone on here says they suck. The only reason I want them over the arrows is caus they're all black. Do the trailpimps really suck that bad?

Ok where should I have these rims builded (<<intentionally misspelled)
I had universal build my tubeless king/D3.1's but I heard someone say they are on the xnay with the kings yo. So who else can build me this sheat?

Any other suggesions for parts for the FQ? I'm thinking of Hope M4's but I don't know if I can swing $400 for brakes. What would you put on this rig?

Had the Trailpimps for a while, I put a hurting on them (flatspots, etc), so I don't think they're the be-all of strong rims. I've heard good things about Arrows. I think I'd try them before the 'Pimps again. Plus the Atomics are heavy as fack. Like you notice it. Not a great feeling. Check into Unreal Cycles, he's got a decent wheelbuilder, and great turnaround (at least the time I dealt with him). Oh yeah, and work on that new phone, and get something so you won't lose it again. :thumb:

Don't buy Atomlab. They're a poopy company, and all their components with moving parts are unreliable. But mainly they're just a poorly-run company.

Atom Lab = lousy CS, pinned (not welded) seam, and sidewalls that are so tall they fold over if you hit 'em too hard...

They're not awful rims, but there's just better stuff for the money. Just go with the Arrows.

I am with the others here: stay away from trailpimps. I have had mixed experience with Atomlab and will not buy any more of their products because they have no advantage over competitors with better service records.

Go with arrows or Mag 30s if you are worried about strength. Those are the beefiest rims out there IMO, though both are heavy. Look at the FR arrows or the Sun MTX rims (in black!) to save a bit of weight. If the MTX is anything like the Mag 30 (it is the same design, just smaller and lighter) then it should be extremely hard to bust.

Alright, Alright :D
ARROW IT IS. Oh, and some wonderful woman found my fone yo. She called up everyone, even my mistresses and I got it back Friday.

Those shivers are only 100mm travel narls. I don't know if you can make them 120mm like the 02 and 03's. I'm thinking a 6" fork might better complement the 6" rear travel on the FQ.

I'll just chime in here that T-blazer can build a better wheel in his sleep by accident than any loser at Universal Cycles ever did while wide awake.

The MTX is a nice rim. I have one on the back of my ride, and a Trailpimp on the front. My next wheelset will be D.321's though, nothing beats Mavic quality.

T banga, I sent you a PM. Echo, thanks. Hey guys, Any idea who carries arrow rims and king hubs that's not gonna bend me over too hard? I'm looking to have this crap for around $500, not including T-bangas labor. That possible? Maybee I should get a cheeper front hub
but then I'll have mismatched hubs and wont be able to sleep good though
:mumble:

I guess I lucked out then, caus universal built me UST D3.1 rims with king hubs for 550 last time. They don't sell king anymore though I was told.
Well, I'm not gonna put shi**y hubs on a $3500 frame, so if I have to wait a bit I will. 05 Marz's aren't out yet anyhow, so I'll do the wheels now and wait till I can get the fork. Maybee I'll build the wheels and I'll have enough left over for the stem, seat, headset, pedals and

Ahhh, someone remembers. Yeah, I got back last week. 3 months in Idaho, 15,000 miles of driving total (4,000 on dirt, about), 7 weeks without electricity; it was quite an adventure.
