Im waiting for my 05 DHR frame. It should have been sent to painting on the 15th, and the DHX should arrive Jan1. I expect mid January (I hope...fox is the real Qestion...) Although i do have my complete 04 DHR sitting in my shop, i just hesitate to ride it since its for sale. Im waiting till things pick up in a month or to as people shake off the winter bug and recoop $$ after the hollidaze..

how much does your F1 weigh, mine is 46 with a 2002 Monster that weighs 12lbs itself. The bike is near complete as it is set up right now. I put it together with borrowed parts a month ago and have been slowly putting it together as my parts come in. So far all I need to buy is some magnesium pedals, SGD I-beam setup, DB spokes for the front wheel, re-setup my tubeless system, and my WB DH2.0 comes tuesday. Hopefully the thing will weigh right at 40 or so . Get a DHX for your's man, it turns the bike into a whole different creature, a better tracking, hardtail-like pedaling, super smooth machine
my bike weighs about 19.3kg thats about 42.5 lbs
as shown here
http://www.ridemonkey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91851
and no real super light parts on it.

DHX are no option for me the prices here a ridiculous, maybe if i find a way to get it for US prices...
still i want to try the F1 with an avalanche
up to now i liked it with the swinger... so no decision made yet.

Going on an exact exchange rate at retail a DHX would be $299eu and shipping cant be too much. Couldnt you have some shop (go-ride) get you one and send it to you as a "gift" to get out of customs duties. It seems like importing one would be your best bet.

I really loved the bike when I first got it with the swinger, it rode great. but the DHX really does blow away the swinger. You know you your Avy just feels smooth throughout the entire stroke, whereas the swinger, even set up at the same compression and rebound settings feels more harsh. The DHX has that avy-like feeling of smoothness. The rebound control on the DHX also feels alot smoother and more controlled then with the swinger. Pedaling efficiency is even better, and its adjustable on the trail with a knob. I think its one of the best upgrades the bike has seen, well worth it.

as do i  :D .

anyway, my f1 is staying much as it is for next season. going to switch up the control layout a bit, going from 31.8 to normal sized bar/stem, ruffian grips to Ourys. also going to have the wheelset rebuilt from the current Atomic DHR rims to Sun MTX/db/brass to shave a bit of weight (and because the DHRs are beat).

either an avy for about 420 euros or the fox for 300

are their any know reliability issues with the fox DHX?
is it actually possible to run some compression damping now without blowing the shock?

My V10 is getting a whole new makeover. The things a tank so I am trying to lose some weight along the way.

All Black Deity Bar, Stem, Cranks, Chaiwheel.
823's with some High Roller UST tires.
Ti Bottom Bracket.
Cutting down the bars and Seatpost a little bit.
Magnesium Pedals.
Ti Cassette if I can find one.
X.0 Shifter and Derailler.
Titanium Top Crown for my slider, if not, then a new fork...
Selle Italia Flite Gel Seat with Ti rails.
Possibly Ti spring.
And going through the bike and replacing all of the heavy bolts with Ti ones to finish it off.

And maybe a new paint job...

no known reliability issues with it so far. This is not like an RC of 3 years ago man. There are 2 compression circuits and you can run em both all the way up and the shock wont blow.

Magnesium Pedals. ( :thumb: )
Ti Cassette if I can find one. ( XTR :thumb: )

Titanium Top Crown for my slider, if not, then a new fork... (Fut the whuck?)
Selle Italia Flite Gel Seat with Ti rails. (WTB Shadow, way more comfy same weight)
Possibly Ti spring. ( :thumb: )
And going through the bike and replacing all of the heavy bolts with Ti ones to finish it off. (expensive but :thumb: )

And maybe a new paint job... (polish it, that saves as much as a 1/4-1/2# compared to powdercoat)

a bit of advise to rocky-

If you want a light cassette go with a road cassette. I switched from a M960 XTR to the top of the line Sram road cassette. Shifting was just as good, its 50g lighter, and 1/2 as expensive

The bike is a Signature series steel frame. Chris built it for me for the 2002 Rampage. Cool to see it near bottom.
do you guys still have these 2 signatures or did you sell them?

thats the one missing in my collection...

We sold them. A friend in Grand Junction has the one in that shot. I think that may have been my fav so far. The "Big Fat Fatty Fat" was a ton of fun too. In the process of adding a pulley wheel to those bikes. Can't wait to ride her again!

The Banshee is going to remain but I am have been working out a lot and plan on racing competitively in the northwest region WIM racing series. the two areas that i've really been slacking on have been racing and hardtail riding so next season I plan on changing that, I also hope to see more MTX racing around, I started off being very successful in that but didn't really pursue it.

Going on the scream:
Depending on money:
New Boxxers or an Integrated Shiver Stem
Answer Protapers
Holzfellers with a FSA external BB
Evil DRS guide (most missoula racers run this set up and it's key)
I'm experimenting with the singlewide rims... i was told the tomac version is anodized and much stronger than the OEM ones so i guess we'll find out, otherwise i'll just grab a set of MTXs
Titanium avalanche spring
wtb racing saddle
thomson seatpost
maxxis SR tires

I'm hoping to drop her down to mid 40s, she's at 55 right now.

Oh well, what are ya gonna do. I'll post some pics one of these days.

What fork are you putting on your Session? I've haven't heard many people talk about them. You should post some pics of it when it's done and give a review.

Right now I have an 888 that I am going to try out. I love the fork but am wondering if I should go the long travel single crown route. Im extremely excited about getting the frame. I will definitly give a review when I get it built up. I was told it would arrive in mid Dec but that hasnt happened. What are your thoughts on the fork situation?

yup, not to mention the 05 has 8.5in of stanchion overlap, 5 bushings per leg, and an Air Assist type of preload
You have the first of the production 2.0 "floater" forks. It is a whole new fork compared to the other 2.0's. You are going to be so stoked. I ran that fork for two years now, including the last two rampages and everything in between. Bar none the best dh fork I have ever ridden. The only other fork I want is the new 5.5 lb FR air fork. 1 lb lighter than last years boxxers.

Oh yea.
The WB fork has 4 bushings per leg, not 5, but that really wouldn't make a difference anyway. Let me know what you think of the fork.

I love the thing man, the F1 and the new 2.0 is a match made in heaven . The fork feels great right out of the box, so smooth and plush. You did a good job on the thing for sure man. And I too am anxiously awaiting the air fork, sign me up for the 1st one of those too :D. If its not too late you should make the upper crown on the air fork compatable with the new integrated stem standard, and if its too late my machinist said he'll make me one (i might get you one too if ya want) Here's some bike errr... fork porn, i'll post the whole bike when done

Hey Don
The intigrated stem is in the works. Was just working on it today. One of the last remaining details on it. Glad you like it. Let us know what you think after you get some runs in.

Lance,

until SOC all this fork is going to be seeing is some northshore drops, stairgaps, and huge drops to flat :dead: Initial impressions are great though, the Air preload is an excellent idea. With a shock pump and 2min I can go from huck off roof stiff to DH race plushness :thumb:
