Frankly, nothing concerning foreign policy ever occurred to me until the middle of the last decade. I'd been writing about foreign countries and foreign affairs and foreigners for years. But you can own dogs all your life and not have "dog policy".

You have rules, yes - Get off the couch! - and training, sure. We want the dumb creatures to be well behaved and friendly. So we feed foreigners, take care of them, give them treats, and, when absolutely necessary, whack them with a rolled-up newspaper.

Interesting view of that guy's psyche - 'lacks understanding and depth'. Did you feel proud of his shortsightedness N8? Was it cool how he characterised the rest of the world in a broad, derogatory fashion? You could have retitled that article -'Why people hate America' or 'Why people think America is stupid'. Maybe 'American arrogance 101'.

For a right winger P J O'Rourke is a funny bugger. I wouldn't take what he says too seriously he's first and foremost a humourist.

Oh, really? That's quite interesting... I was thinking on several occasions that maybe he was just being sarcastic, but then he'd say something else that made me think 'nope, he's just a dick..' - I can see how that if that is meant with a slightly humourous slant it would be funny to a certain mindset...

haha, that article was a lame psychological exercise to raise self-esteem, a monologue for the author to find "facts" to convince himself his righteousness and a-priori conclusion.

Love the article!!! Its a cross between dry brit humor and partisan BS. One true thing was said about America:
