Serve and protect didn't last long, did it?
haha, funny you mention that. people pull that line all the time, usually when i'm arresting them. "i thought you were here to SERVE and protect!"

"um, actually sir, do you see that written anywhere on my car, uniform, or at the PD?" (we don't have serve/protect written anywhere)
"my job is to ENFORCE THE LAW" :D

....and people resist change because, for a time, they will not be "experts", they will be "novices" (which most people read as "stupid"). People don't like to feel stupid, if even for a moment...particularly if they feel like everyone is watching (like now....)
