behind you !!! ARRRR...
Out at interbike this past week, and could not get over the stench and filth of Vegas. And other than that while on the strip every place served crap beer, forcing me to drink more intoxicating concoctions. It almost takes away from the bike scene going on at the time.
F$%k Vegas.:ban:

So, your definition of nasty includes booze flowing like water, gambling 24-7, and legal prostitution? Kinda sounds like a small slice of heaven to me.

It's nasty cuz someone thought that the entity known as the mafia was a bad thing.

Seriously.

When I went there 20 years ago, when the mob ran the town, the place was awesome. One of the cleanest, safest, nicest places on the planet... everywhere in that town.

I miss the mob.

...yeah, but if you won any money, theyd just take you in the basement, shoot your face off and bury you in bootleg canyon.

20 years ago, you must be pretty old, huh ?
-- Born in 1968
-- got my restricted driver's license when I was 15 yo
-- birthcertificate was folded in the middle, right through the 8 of 1968 and made it look like 1960
-- DMV sent a letter telling me this
-- told my dad he had to take me to the DMV to fix it
-- he said, "Son, I raised you right, yeah? You wouldn't abuse that license and get lots of alcohol for your friends, right?"
-- He was right
-- then he said, "Good. I'll call the travel agent tomorrow, we're going to Vegas."

He took me once a year starting then :D

My sister who is 8 years older than me and was really 23yo at the time was carded for winning $40 in nickel slots came up to us at the blackjack table and said, "I got carded and my 15 yo brother is drinking a beer and playing cards?"

My dad and I looked at her in disbelief. The mob didn't care, I had a valid DL :)

A couple times, yeah; I was working. That is a good point you really don't notice the smell after a couple nine beers.

haha when i was in vegas i only drank liquor. i think this has something to do with the fact that one night i was blacked out drunk and came to walking around in the ghetto after leaving a night club.

There is good beer in one of the gift shops in the Excalibur casino. There is also good beer at some hamburger joint in one of the shopping malls near the Luxor. $10 burger and $8 beer. HOORAY! So you can get decent beer if you are willing to walk an hour out of your way.

While I didn't care all that much for Vegas the one time I went, I don't remember it smelling like sewage.

Jenn went to Vegas on spring break with one of her friends. I want to go sometime, just to see it and experience it.

However, I only want to spend a few days in the city. I really want to see the surrounding desert, the Hoover Dam, and Red Rock Canyon... nice pic, douglas.

Along with card-counters and pick-pockets, I am high on the list of Casino undesirables. I never spend any of my own money on wagering and use my coin draw($20 "refund" of bus fare) to tip waitresses(poorly) for the umpteen free cocktails I throw back while walking around observing the spectacle of gamblers at play in their heaven. I can't believe "the firm" hasn't circulated my mug around during security briefings and that I haven't been ejected yet for being a sociological sponger.

If you count pool time, the most anybody would (should) want to spend in the city is two days and two nights.
We went a few months ago, spent 4days/3nights there and it felt like forever. I got totally disconnected from reality... which was kind of a good thing. And that's with 3-4 hours at the pool each day.

We're going to Syracuse NY next month. That should be a really good restful vacation since there's nothing there, so I hear.

I once walked from olympic gardens to Mandalay, after I realized I spent all of my cash and only had my liscense and room key in my pocket. Not a fun walk after a 15 hr bender at 7 in the morning.

Vegas is nasty to me because of the vibe there. I get a weird signal every time I stop there on the way through. That might be compounded by the scummy panhandlers who inevitably hit me up for money every time I stop for fuel off of I-15. I like to just glare at them witout a word until they walk away with their tail between their legs. If you can't say anything nice, stare the fuqer down.
