Does anyone know if LMC will be hosting a collegiate race there on the 15-16th. If so where is the slalom course at and can I bring the ETSU team there this weekend?

How do I get to the DH and XC courses? Never ming found that out on the Brushy Mountain website. But does anyone know about a slalom course?

The dude from LMC spoke to us once about hosting a race but nothing every came from it. At the time we had located some land that the town of Wilkesboro was going to develop for us. We envisioned a mtn cross course so that it could be a multi-use course. The LMC dude plainly stated that it had to be a true dual slalom course & mtnX wasn't an option. Given his crappy attitude we decide not to purse the race even if he had called back.

Since the town was going to fund building of the course we then tossed around the idea of having two Cane Creek Cup dates. One for slalom & dh and one for short track & xc. Here again we ran into a snag, this time it was man power...not enough volunteers in our club to put on another race. We currently host three road rides & two mtb so our time is limited. Therefore since we couldn't get a crew together to drive another race we declined from having the town build the course since if they did build it we would be obligated to host a race there.

Maybe in a couple of years we can make it happen. Right now we're tyring to make the Cane Creek race bigger & better meaning more & better prizes. Perhaps after we build a good relationship with some of the major sponsors having support for another venue want be a big issue. Oh yeah we're also lobbying to build a true dh course about 15 minutes from Dark Mtn...just got to convince the Rangers...wish us luck!!!

Definately good luck on the new course and thanks for the info. Yeah the LMC coach is a real @##%$$. They are still claiming to be having a race the 15-16th, but nobody knows where.

Not that it would be a good thing for the racers but it would be kind of funny if try to host a last minute dh at Dark Mtn. I could see the Rangers having him hauled off in cuffs right now!!! neaky: Maybe he would get that broom out of his a@# then :evil:
