Race face and Shimano have gone the way of external BBs, will there be one for ISIS?

I heard rumours a while ago that Truvativ or FSA were bringing one out but I havent heard anything since. Does anyone have any info? Is it even a good idea, or will the bearings have to be so small to allow for axel width that it wont have any real strength advantage? Will ther be a Ti axel option?

Huh.. Someone posted pictures of the Mega EXO (I think it was DW) a little while back and it wasn't an external bearing ISIS setup, it looked like the Saint/Diablous setup with a seperate axle and BB cups with external bearings..

Thanks BV, I looked at the first link and was like, "Great, I get to keep my crank arms but I need a new frame!"

I can't find it right now but I'm pretty sure someone is selling an outboard bearing bb for ISIS next year. If not FSA, maybe Truvativ? I'll look for it later, no time right now.

Anybody else notice how thin the bearing assembly is with this BB, hence how tiny the balls must be inside the bearing? Also, anybody notice that this is a road bottom bracket? I don't think it's going to stand up to any serious DH use if the rider is over 150 pounds . . .

Quote from FSA's website for this bb.

" Fits most current ISIS-Drive ATB crankarms (Note: not suitable for carbon cranks or road cranks)"

It is mistakenly placed in a webpage that has a roadie-pics background. However if you looks at the bb range in the upper left menu, it is ATB. Now with respect to bearings size, honestly i cannot comment from a picture, but i bet it lasts at least the same as X-type or Saint-type. Time will tell,

65$ msrp and 2yr Bearing warranty is good enough for me.

The balls in the freewheel of the bike I had when I was 14 were tiny too, smaller in diameter than a BB but they lasted forever, there were about 130 of them that fell out all over the garage floor when I took it apart and it took me about an hour to put them all back in. I bent the fork and ovalized the headtube on that bike, the freewheel never gave me a problem. If they're using good materials in the bearing I don't see any reason why the bearings shouldn't last, even if the balls are small. The real issue is how many balls are in there.

Zedro that is a bit confusing or my reading skills have gone down the drain...

Megaexo is a bb that offers outboard bearigns that outlast traditional ISIS bbs but yet it is compatible with existing ISIS cranks.

I also noticed another version of the megaexo that is coupled with a Bulseye/Saint/Xtype crank style, similar to what dw used sometime ago.

I am puzzled, anyhow ,the megaexo ISIS standalone bb looks like the Linux of MTBing

Likewise pal,

If I were the casual poster I wouldn't even have given you the dignity of a response.
