Hey, while doing my annual overhaul on the Wilson I took the wrapped tube off the stays and remembered you guys talking about how heavy it was. With the tube in one hand and the CS in the other, I wondered if the tube would fit over the CS. It did. Perfectly. The talc powder helped it slide on. Not too tight, but not lose enough that it should slip on its own. Do you think it's thick enough? It's a regular XC tube.
How about a thin piece of plexi glass, taped over that with clear packing tape? Ghetto, but would protect and keep it visible until you need to retire it...
Is this stuff flexible? Ie. The chain guards that came with my Sunday had tape on the back, but when it bent 90* around the stay the thing popped back off cause it was too stiff. Also, will it go over the welds and adhere?

Its bends and stick over and on everything so far in my experience.
And its not that expensive so you can take it off and put a new layer when its worn off...

My setup for this season, a mix of adhesive velcro (loop side) and 3M 2228 mastic. I prefer the velcro because it is lighter and comes off cleaner than the 2228, but the 2228 has better noise damping properties for heavy hit areas.
I recommend using a few temporary wraps of cheap white paper masking tape left on for 24h (just a single wrap every 6-8cm) to allow the adhesive on the velcro or 2228 to achieve full cure strength. This helps long term adhesion on curved surfaces. Also clean the surface with pure IPA first.
The most important thing though - use genuine products. Use velcro-branded velcro, and 3M brand mastic tape - the adhesive on cheaper or counterfeit stuff is almost always inferior.
