Winblows 7 wont see server

Quo Fan

don't make me kick your ass
2 desktops running XP pro and laptop running XP Home can log onto server running 2000 Server. Laptop running Win7 "sees" server, but I get "logon failure: unknown username or bad password". No error logs on the server for logon failures.

I tried Microshaft help, but nothing I could find described my problem. I can go from my server and view the public files on the laptop, but not the other way around.

I'm connecting through an AT&T wireless broadband modem provided by AT&T, and I can surf the internet with the laptop. The network map on the laptop shows connection to the modem and then to the internet, and shows the rest of the computers in my house as discovered devices that cannot be placed in the map. I have the network type set as work, because according to Microshaft, use Home only if all computers are running Win7.

What am I missing?

I've had a similar problem using XP on a computer and 7 couldn't see it.

Make sure you have the latest Broadcom driver available, they make the chipset for that AT&T thingy.
You might need to go into your hardware manager (in the control panel) and see which specific chipset that thing has. Or just google the model number of it, like "at&t [MODEL#] chipset" and go from there.

Here's where you would get the driver:
http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/downloaddrivers.php

edit: apparently that site can determine which one you need if you're using windows.
