Girlfriend got a new Dell, it has windows 7 and we can't connect it to our linksys router.

She called linksys and they wanted to charge her to update the firmware, etc.

thoughts/suggestions?

I would think you could just go to the linksys site -> support -> and type in the model number of your router and get the proper download without paying for the direct telephone service.

Seems odd to be having that problem, however; my wife's new pc has Windows 7 and we had no trouble even with the older linksys router we have.

Yeah, I would update the router firmware.

It is real easy to do, as long as you plug in via an ethernet cable.

I had a problem with my linksys and an update fixed it.
