But what do you think is hanging up my boot process that makes it take up to 5 minutes? (Vista, DUH).

Try turning off the security center or disable virus scan at boot up.

I did disable all the security. Not much is running, I'll have to log on later and check. I'm thinking it's hardware related now. Is there a log that'll show me where in the boot process it hangs?
I was just curious so I Googled about the startup times. I found a lot of information but don't have a Vista desktop in front of me to effectively walk you through anything.

I'm so happy I'm getting a Mac in a couple of months...
Yeah, Macs never have growing pains with new OS releases. Not ever.
i still refuse to buy a vista machine.
I've had enough of a sip of Vista to know that I don't want to drink the whole bucket of horse piss...
People should use what makes them happy. If you like MacOS, good stuff. There are significant flaws in each system, though, so you just need to choose the set of flaws that you find it easiest to deal with.
