Interview now on mtbcut.tv....

Yeah, Peat an Gee are full of disrespect....

That descent-world article is just baloney.....

Respect to Hill, Gee and Steve,,and to all the others who gave their 1000%...

But to win a race is not enough to be fastest 98% of the run....

Hill would have won, bit Gee deserved the win..no doubt...

Kinda bummed for Peat....

Stepped it up to shut Hill up eh?
They were allready 5seconds behind on the first split.
If anyone should laugh...
it amazes me that people talk about luck on this topic....

luck would have been if Sam flatted, Sam went to fast and crashed....

please someone making sense explain to me how Gee got lucky...the same could be said that Sam is lucky he made it that far at that rate of speed before blowing up...

the best part about downhill is it's you and the clock...when Sam crossed the line the clock stopped....it just didn't stop sooner then Gee...end of story really

there will be no argument as to Sam's speed, i saw Sam in 2003 worlds from the lift on a section and rode to the bottom and told my wife i'm done with world cup level DH...it's just to fast now......

but all the skill in the world does no good if you can't control it...Sam couldn't today, even if it was a flat turn.

if it is a foregone conclusion that Sam is the fastest and anytime he wrecks the others got lucky there would be no reason to hold the race.....its the whole reason everyone lines up....cause chit happens!
Well said BC finally someone with some race experience who seems to know what hes talking about!

Thats racing, he who finishes with the best time wins period!

Im a big fan of Sams abilities and riding skills but the fastest sometimes is about harnessing that speed and making it clean to the end.

Sam couldn't do that this time, Im sure hes trying extra hard now as the pressure and expectation rise, maybe just needs to revisit his stratgey from the last couple of years!

End of the day DH is about pushing the limits, its why its a bit unique in racing terms imo so many things can go wrong, anyone who wins deserves it!
ya not going to win in DH all the time no matter who you are!

Well done Gee, congrats! Congrats to Rachel and the juniors great result for them and the UK..

I'm sure Sam will be back, but a great sportsman is made by a nemisis not just domination, maybe its Sam vs Gee time I hope so it will only raise the sport and the riders to another level.

Looked like another great race week what a year so far, wow, keep it coming, and all the best riders were right up there..

Towing the party line.
There is no junior runs. TV (Italian local guys) decided that they would be on the hill for about 10 hours, and that was not acceptable. So their producer informed me that there would not be any footage of the juniors to record. Lame.

there would be no chance of a rerun.....i don't even think anything like that is in the books...just a DQ,

i wanted deldyke to take it as well, he's a good kid and a super smooth rider....i think he got in a bit over his head on that one.....i want to watch it in slow mo to see if he really tried to clean out graves or if he was riding over his head..there is a difference. either way it wasn't a wise choice to go in that hard.
Yeah, just heard someone telling buhl that when she was about to be interviewed. Guess it was a long shot.

Whatever happened, im sure deldyke will be hearing about this one for a long time.

Slo-mo footage of Gee shows his 40 bottoming the F out hard through one of the rockgardens. So surprised he didn't get bucked.

Sam hits the ski jump at 2:49 and Gee hits it at 2:55. Gee hits the spot Sam crashed at 3:00 while Sam isn't even back on his bike at that point . . . . wow!

what should we guess the total time lost was? 15-18secs? He never really got back up to speed.

Wow - Congrats to Gee and Rache, not to mention Peaty (dammit again - but close) and Sabrina!!!

:rockout:

If Sammy hadn't taken that slider on the last turn... he definitely would've had it in the bag. Bad bit of luck, but that's the way it goes sometimes... still it's amazing that he got 3rd after wrecking that hard.

Kovarik muscled his way to 12th - not bad!

How bad was Minaarr after his wreck?

Amazing run, crash, third place, Champery anyone?

Hill won today.
Nope, Hill was against the odds at Champery which made his third place so amazing. At the worlds here everything was in his favour, he had the same track as everyone else but he went too fast and threw it away. He could have easily backed it off a touch and still smoked everyone but he chose not too and paid the price, he deserves his bronze medal.

Yeah yeah yeah....woulda shoulda coulda....if almost making it to the bottom with the fastest time counted Peaty would have some rainbow strips too.

Sam was pushing the edge and it bit him, that's racing. Doesn't matter what you're racing it's all the same.

True, true, but I didn't had that in mind. I don't remember who won the Champery, but I won't forget Hill's run on that day.

All I can say for his today's performance is: no risk no glory!

Matti won Champery, who I think is an even more raw racer than anyone on the podium. He's still competitive in World Cups after breaking his neck/back/whatever less than a year ago.

What's funny is that Sam could have still had it in the bag. If he had gotten his bike to downshift just a bit faster he could have made up that half second easily, maybe even more.....

Still the most capable rider on the planet, but not the fastest today.

I so wanted Deldycke to win, but man, that move was 'supa shade', not cool.

MELISSA BUHL 2008 WORLD CHAMPION-hell ya!

Thanks Freecaster for flawless live coverage.....holy crap, you guys are making racing cool to the masses.

just cause he was one of your riders shouldn't mean you're automaticly fanboy. As I remember, your boy despises his "Dual" tactics. I always remember Deldycke as Captain T-Bone.
